Video Quality Problem

I use a KVM to run 2 computers with 1 monitor, mouse and keyboard. On my main system I get ghosting on my monitor running 1024x768 using a GeForce 256. But on my game system (attached to the same monitor, mouse and kyb through the KVM) I get no ghosting at 1024x768 using a GeForce GTS.

So hearing about the GeForces suposed low 2D quality, I replaced my GeForce 256 with a new Matrox G450. The G450 has the same ghosting problem as the old GeForce 256. So thinking it was the monitor cable I got a $25 Belkin Gold Monitor Cable to run from my G450 to the KVM. Still ghosting. So I tried the cable I was using from my GTS to the KVM, still ghosting. I tried moving both computers away from anything that might cause interferance, with the same results, the GTS is clear at 1024x768, the G450 has ghosting. If I plug my G450 direct to the monitor I loose the ghosting, but my GTS has no problem going through the same cable and KVM.

So what is my problem, does the mobo or anything else affect video quality. I am at a loss. With all the talk about the GeForce's crapy 2D and the Matrox's great 2D, I am really at a loss. Any ideas are welcome.

1) Ghosting is a common problem with KVM boxes (especially cheaper models).
2) Output signal strength from video cards can have dramatic effects on ghosting / non ghosting
3) The higher the resolution the more likely you'll see ghosting.

Did you try swapping the ports on the KVM box to see if one port has a better effect than the other? (i.e. plug computer 1 with ghosting problems into KVM port 2 and computer 2 into port 1 and vice versa).

If you find that one port on the KVM is "weaker" than the other causing ghosting then replace the KVM box or lower your resolution.

Tried removing the KVM altogether, just pluged monitor into monitor extension cable into vid card, same thing. It seems the matrox can't deal with the add length, but the GTS can. So the GTS must send a stronger signal than the G450. Any ideas as to a card that would output like the GTS (without spending $200) since my GeForce 256 and G450 don't? How about a V3?
