Video Saving

I am heading out of town and will not have access to the internet. I have a website that has many educational videos on it and I want to be able to watch them when I do not have access to the internet. I assume the best way to do this would be to somehow get the video from the website onto my hard drive so that I can play the video from my harddrive.

When I did a google search for Video saving or video from website there are a million programs that all relate to youtube or google video. I am not interested in either. What programs are available, free or paid that I can get video off of a website in a format that I can play on my computer without internet?

Depends on how it is being played in the webpage.

Try Download Helper extension in Firefox ... that will save most videos ... you may need to convert them to normal video formats to either put on dvd or save as video files ... ConvertXtoDVD is a good program to do this (it has a trial version $50 for license with updates free within the same major version number)

Can you tell us which site? It will help us figure out what to suggest to you.

I use Orbit downloader for my needs. (I have no idea if it has spyware, though. My XP box is a front of sorts, so I don't care)

I totally agree with bruceb. Try and download this 'Video DownloadHelper' add-on for Firefox:

ConvertXtoDVD is an excellent software. I use it and couldn't be happier.

Would something like a screen recording software, like Camtasia work or does it not output correctly?

You can give it a shot,but from my experience, the resulting video file is not always pleasent to watch.

Still, your resutls may vary, give it a try !

That's what I use, but I don't do any conversion. VLC will play the videos fine as is.

I've used FLV Player to play Flash files. Anyone else use/used this? It's a pretty good software.

For me, I find that K-lite Codec pack does the job just fine. (.flv files) For .swf files, I just use Firefox/Chrome.
