Yep. That announcer, as geeky as he may sound, was one of the founding fathers of Epic and is among the top engine programmers in the PC industry - second only to John Carmack, IMO.

Nah, games looking that good and actually utilizing such technology won't be out for at least a couple years. DX8.1 games seem to have finally become mainstream, but the GF3 was released ages ago!

I'll hang on to my 9800 Pro for at least the 2nd round of these cards are developed. 1st. generation technology always looks great, but it's also always too expensive and ends up not being able to perform fast enough once the software catches up.

Now THAT was an impressive demo. But think about it, they said the new Nvidia card was the first card to be able to "decently" play the demo at that level of detail. Notice it wasn't fluid, but rather a little choppy. If the next gen card can't play it fluidly....

kinda OT but...

anyone else remember almost crapping themselves when you get to that one level in Unreal and when you hit the switch, the lights go out slowly behind you and then you start to hear something in the darkness growling at you? The only thing coming close to that is the "Marine" levels in AvP and AvP II when you hear the aliens running around but you can't see them.
