Videocard to Monitor Help

For the past 4 years.. I have had my computer. I have made upgrades along the way, but anyway. My motherboard does not have onboard video, I use a seperate video card. All of this time, I have been plugging my monitor into my motherboard. It has worked fine, but everybody I ask say they plug their monitor into the videocard. Is there any difference? It works both ways.

If your plugged into the motherboard, your using your processor to render your desktop. if you plug into the video card, your using the video card to render the desktop. If your doing anything at all graphics intensive, you will notice a definite difference in the performance of your computer plugging into the video card. This way you arent wasting processor cycles to draw your desktop.

Either way going into the video card is a better idea, since your not using the video chipset on your mobo, which uses your processor to draw things.

Ah ok. Thanks man. At times, I thought I wasn't getting as much FPS as I thought I should get.. I only have a 9700 Pro though, sort of old.
