no he is not. AA is required even at 1600p. do you think the tech websites are testing with MSAA at 1600p for no reason. "1600p does not need MSAA" is just misinformation. heck there are sites testing with SSAA at 1600p in few games which support it. SSAA is even more demanding than MSAA.
If the R9 290X (or whatever the official launch name is) comes bundled with BF4 I'll be hard pressed not to pick one up.
When is Maxwell suppose to come out anyways? 6+ months?

I find this very intriguing. AMD needs to fix this. nVidia's customers are willing to pay $100 more for a card than AMD's customers, even when, as the question was put forth, the AMD card outperforms the competition.
I refused to buy the 7000 series AMD cards and hung on to my 6950 because the prices were at least $100 too high for every model at launch. It was like AMD was trying to copy NVidia and over-price their cards. So I did what the prudent person does and resisted the urge for the new shiny and waited. I know I want to stick with AMD because their cards have been flawless for me for several generations now. No crashes, no bugs, and high image quality. If they were somehow failing me, I might consider NVidia again, but they aren't so i haven't. You don't change to an unknown from a known unless you are so bored you welcome the potential for introducing problems.
Now the 7000 series cards are finally hitting attractive pricing and I'm going to get one once the reviews hit (tomorrow?) and we know for sure what to expect from the new gen GPUs and how much it may or may not impact older product prices in the short term (which is in part based on how soon we'll see the mid-range cards of the next gen actually available to purchase and therefore competing with the older cards, driving old card prices down until inventories deplete).

I think a lot of people are like you, holding out until they get the information that tells them whether to buy. So after that information comes out, people know what to do and pull the trigger.
My prediction is that many people will see the pricing and information on the new cards, and decide right then to get a 7950. All the 7950s will sell out, so you'll miss the great deal right now. Same thing for the great deal on the NVidia 670 and 760. Any cards in that price range will increase in price right after the AMD announcement.
So strike now, when uncertainty is high and prices are low. Just my own prediction, I could be totally off. But man there are some great prices right now, and it seemed to also happen in the past right before release of new gen cards.

This is the case for basically all marketing leading products. People are surprisingly loyal, and will buy the same brand over and over again unless they have a truly horrific experience, then they will switch. It doesn't matter how much better a competing product is, the consumer will rationalize and convince themselves as to why their chosen brand is "the best". Even given substantial evidence, people will latch onto reasons why their purchase was justified, and will most certainly do their best to convince others of the same.generally speaking you have more misinformed consumers (noobs) buying nvidia. im not saying that's the case with the users on sites like this. but all my friends who don't follow tech are always wanting to buy nvidia.
remember the 8800gt rebadging? consumers couldn't get enough of the same cards. nvidia just hasn't had the bang for buck since 2008.

If the games are good enough in the bundle that comes with these cards I may just have to get one. Didn't the 7970 come with 8 games at one point? I cannot turn that down.
I am not compelled to upgrade my 7970 in the slightest, but the bundle would really sway me.
I'm hoping I can resist upgrading my 7950. It's still a very fast card but new tech like this is so exciting. I also have gotten a new video card for every Battlefield.
