This time we are not including overclocking results in our charts, but we will tell you what we know. It appears that overclocked GTX 1070 will not beat GTX 1080 in synthetic benchmarks (hitting around 4450 GPU points in Ultra). More importantly GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition suffers from the same power limitation problem, that we know from GTX 1080.

That said the average overclocking frequency of Founders Edition is around 2060 MHz, but it will vary depending on the sample. The good news is that there is no problem with memory overclocking, most cards should be able to hit 9 GHz effective speed (2250 MHz), which unfortunately is still less than GTX 1080 (320 GB/s), but enough to increase bandwidth by 32 GB/s to 288 GB/s.

Nice. Closer to the Geforce GTX 1080 than I expected. Can't wait to see gaming results.

This is about what everyone was expecting. If we can get a custom variant for $379, then we'll have a real winner, of course that also depends on Polaris too price/performance too.

yet it is a much greater distance between it and the 1080 than there was for the 970 and 980.

Oh my god completely unrelated.

The 980TI just dropped $150 in price (if the MSRP rings true), gained 2 GB of memory, plus maybe some OC room and lower power consumption.

Add in some rebates if Polaris is competitive... $350 1070?

For Firestrike Ultra there is a ~45% improvement from 970 to 980 and a ~22% improvement from 1070 to 1080. For Extreme it is ~20% improvement from 970 to 980 and a ~20% improvement from 1070 to 1080.

Don't bother comparing the Performance numbers with the class these cards are in, it only distorts things. Real world numbers in games will tell a real story. I do not think the gap between them is significantly different assuming these benches are true though.

1070 have only 9% OC headroom.

Practically no 980Ti were sold with stock clocks. For example mine boosts to over 1420MHz at stock so it seems even after OC it won't match my stock card. Disappointing!

If this is accurate, it's what most of us expected. I figured they would have it clock juuust enough to edge out the Titan X by single digit % pts.

I imagine max OC 1070 vs 980 Ti will be very close, but at least as far as FE vs Aftermarket Ti I think the Ti may have a very slight win. But, price notwithstanding, with more VRAM, lower power consumption, new displayport, potentially better Gameworks compatability, etc this is probably the more desirable card.

That is pretty impressive for the 1070 and about 5% faster than I expected. Oc'd that puts it at least in the neighborhood of 2x faster than a 390. I'm all over one of those once the FE pricing is out of the way.
