The new GeForce GTX 960 is equipped with Maxwell GM206-300 GPU, which is in fact, the full chip. The GM206 is pretty much GM204 cut in half, thus it has only two Graphics Processing Clusters (GPCs), each with four Streaming Multiprocessors Maxwell (SMMs). Most importantly I can now confirm GM206 has 64 Texture Mapping Units (TMUs) and 32 Raster Operations Pipelines (ROPs).

So basically it trades blows with the $180 280, figured as much. If this is the $200 that has been leaded by 10 different sources then this card really is actual garbage.

Yeah, trying to make it look decent, when its not. They compare it to the 290 which everyone known consumes a lot more power, that is why its about 50% faster than the 960.

If they compared it to the 280 for example which is the competition for this card as they do trade blows in the performance department we'll see that its not all that power efficient even against 2 year old cards.

There are benchmarks in the OPs link that show it coming close to the 280X.

If it can get another 15% with OC, it will not be too bad.

Sure I'd prefer <200$ at 4GBs.

This will be a nice card for a mini-ITX system.

GJ, slower than a 3 year old card, absurdly priced, but you'll save $40-50 dollars a year on electricity if you run it 24/7/365. Doesn't matter that it runs all the games slower than the 770, heck barely beats the 760, but I'm sure those $50 bucks will be worth it over a year of running it 24/7

The numbers seem really skewed in the benchmarks. Overclocked non reference 960 vs reference gpus? 770 power consumption close to the 780? No power consumption of the 285? Rigged to make the 960 look good. I wouldn't be surprised if those games traditional do well with nvidia cards.

Ughhh.....so uninspired. I waited so long for this card hoping that it would be my next ugprade.

But i need more performance than that and there is no way i'm upgrading to another 2GB card. I usually keep my cards for at least 2-4 years and a 4GB card is a requirement for me.

950 Ti would have 40W lower power consumption and no need for external PCIe

Why do you say that? Is it written on the box? Oh and by the way I was running 5.5k (8044x1440) with my HD 7970, they are 180$ dollar card today? What is your logic?

Regardless of Vram and bandwidth this card doesn't have enough shading power to run 4K. You could have 12 GB Vram and 1 TB/sec bandwidth and it would still suck at 4K with only 1024 shaders. Sure 4K is possible but it is not the target market. The number of people who actually try to run 4K with this card is a tiny fraction of the people who will buy this card.

4K isn't the relevant target market anymore than the ford ford selling the F-150 in Parisian streets to taxi companies.
