The problem is, not all speech should be free. Making off with national secrets is treason.

His exercise of free speech to spit in her face!

Since that's speech and everything...

Except that's illegal, which is why he was arrested.

I'm being devil's advocate anyway. I know too little about Hanoi Jane to have a real opinion on it I do like when celebrities are down trodden though, so there's a  for that.

What are you talking about, he was sneezing.

I disagree with her stance on Vietnam by the way.

I don't think going to the enemy and helping out the enemy machine is quite exactly having "an opinion." I would imagine in 1780 she would have been shot for treason. Too bad we live in today's world.

treason for what? we were never at officially at war with anyone.

it was a dumb thing for her to do, but "dumb" pretty much describes the whole vietnam period.

Opinion, yes.
The bitch took notes passed by American POW's during a visit to a camp and handed them off to the camp's commander causing some of the POW's to be beat to death.
They were trying to let her know that the camp's conditions were unbearable.
Death is too good for her. A black box, leeches, and daily beatings would do justice.

I don't feel that way because if America had not helped S. Korea fend off communist N. Korea, well, let's just say I wouldn't be here today. Too bad hanoi jane prevented US from doing the same for Vietnam.

We don't have to be at war for someone to commit treason.

Many people are mistaken in believing that Jane Fonda passed prisoner's letters to the enemy and claim that as a reason to call her a traitor. That's not true; however, she did knowingly participate in enemy propoganda, which is much more than just having and opinion and expressing it. During another war or at another time, she may well have been facing charges of treason and some prefer to view it that she was treasonous, just never charged for it because of the politcal circumstances of the time.

from snopes.com:

Claim: Jane Fonda betrayed U.S. POWs during the Viet Nam War.

Status: Multiple:

* During a 1972 trip to North Vietnam, Jane Fonda propagandized on behalf of the North Vietnamese government, declared that American POWs were being treated humanely and condemned U.S. soldiers as "war criminals" and later denounced them as liars for claiming they had been tortured: True.

* Jane Fonda handed over to their captors the slips of paper POWs pressed upon her: False.

* In 1999, Jane Fonda was profiled in ABC's A Celebration: 100 Years of Great Women: True.

She visited a prison camp in North Viet Nam during the war. One of the American prisoners had compiled a list of the prisoners there, and slipped it to her when she shook his hand for a North Viet Nam photo op. She smiled, and handed it over to the prison camp commander. I shudder to think what happened to that man afterwards.

"If you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees that we would some day become communist." -Jane Fonda

Definately bullet worthy.

Um, that's completely false. You might want to read up a bit before spouting off myths.
