I'm looking to buy for my next home office/gaming display. It has a super low response time (3ms) and Viewsonic has always had a strong computer display reputation..

It doesn't support native DVI-D but can via an included HDMI -> DVI-D connector, will that suffice for, say, a GeForce 8800GTS??

They also have a 32" and a 37" but I think that is overkill, plus wouldn't it start interpolating the pixels? I'm already worried about a little bit of that with the 28" version..

Welcome to the forums

As for that LCD, it's a TN; 'nuff said.

The color shifting (due to the atrocious viewing angles) will be horrifying on that size.

I find 24" TNs color shifting terrible...don't want to imagine it on a 28".

xtknight has an awesome thread here on what to look for in a good LCD: http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2049206&enterthread=y

That will get you looking in the right direction at least.

If you want 27", then go for Dell's.. which is true 8-bit panel and no viewing angles issues.

Or Samsung's 275T

But i don't feel 27"s are worth it.
24" is fine IMO, or get a 30" 2560x1600; much better than a 27/28" could dream to be, & does well making a 1080p TV look like a joke

Funny enough... I was looking at the Dell 3007WFP-HC and HP LP3065 last night. It was until a lunchtime break at Fry's today when I saw that Viewsonic and was amazed.

I didn't realize the 30" had a different resolution.. I agree, it sounds like if there are not anymore pixels, anything over 22" would be bad for 1900x1200, so I guess that is why you guys recommend 30" which has 2560x1600 pixels, which won't interpolate (although may if the game doesn't support that res.)

So I guess a 30" it is... Now the next big question, Dell or HP?

3007WFP-HC has USB hub/card reader built in
HP has three DVI ports

Both are superb.

If I thought the others were worth the extra $ I would have gladly paid it, but for my office apps it's not IMHO.

Viewsonic VX2835wm $599.99
Dell 3007WFP-HC $1,399.00
HP LP3065 ~$1,365.99

My Quake and Unreal days are over so cannot speak to how well it performs in gaming.

I just [finally] played a couple of DVD's and it's awesome.

Cheers,

For gaming, the lower the resolution the better. You will need a hell of a video card setup to run games at 2560x1600. That's why I think 28" is the perfect size, because it's the highest you can go at 1920x1200
