Just stumbled across this today in my continuing search for a hot deal on a HDTV.

I know I saw the 37" posted for $999 AR earlier this month but this deal looks sweet - a 40" for less!!!

Outpost Link

I've been trying to wait for 1080p to become more common and cheaper. Someone please talk me out of this .

EDIT: Appears to be DEAD 9/25

Now that's hot...lol I spent the same amount for my westy 32" w/ dvd combo. Yet, I can't resist bestbuy's 36 month no interest plan

You better need to give a call....but the rebate is valid for both Fry's B&M and Outpost.com (which is a good thing)

I just got my Syntax 37" LCD the other day and I am quite pleased so far. I will be getting the Toshiba HD player next.

Damn, Viewsonic is busting out the prices lately!! When I bought my Viewsonic 32" LCD just a month ago, $799.00 Shipped was the best price on a 32" TV, then shortly after that others dropped to the low $700's. I love seeing these prices drop!!

Ground shipping to MD is $45.80, but no sales tax at 5% ends up being a wash. Shame shipping is so high.

The State of California passed new legislation in September 2003 that required retailers, effective January 1, 2005, to collect a recycling fee for electronic devices with a screen size larger than 4", such as televisions (except plasmas), laptops, LCD Screens and monitors.
The new law requires the retailer to collect the following fees at the time of purchase:

Display Screen Size, Measured Diagonally
= 4" to < 15" $6
= 15" to < 35" $8
= 35" or larger $10

The fee is non-taxable and is refunded 100% if the unit is returned. More information on this new law and a full text of the law can be found at:
http://www.ciwmb.ca.gov/Electronics/Act2003.

Should you have any additional questions or for more information you may contact the California Integrated Waste Management Board at:
http://www.ciwmb.ca.gov/Electronics or visit www.erecycle.org.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation

Fry's Electronics, Inc.

Note: This recycling fee is not used in computing whether your order qualifies for free shipping.

What will CA come up with next?

$49 to Florida, not bad at all. Please, $49 for like a 75+ lb. $1000 item? I would have paid more in taxes buying local.

You're right, but it still seems a lot, but not much compared to second day at $130 and next day at $180.

This deal is tempting at ground rate.

not really.

I think it's worth waiting out on best buy for the black friday deal.
They might have the westinghouse on sale again.

Read the reviews on this set.
I almost purchased it but the reviews weren't too great.

Blah to the reviews. I own the 32 inch version of this TV and it is fantastic for an entry level LCD. I couldnt imagine how this TV would be worse, looks to be all the same specs, just larger.

Here is the same TV - same model number ..http://www.cnet.com.au/tvs/lcd/0,239035307,240059182,00.htm
that says it does not have the digital tuner.
When you go to Viewsonic's site - the same number pulls up an all black/grey bezeled unit - the one shown in Outposts ad.
Which is for sale?
Just thought it might it might be wise to make sure. Sometimes pictures and web ads are not what they seem. Guess it is just the sceptic in me.

i dont get why people make such a big deal about digital tuner. Why would u just hook up regular cable to 40inch hd tv. Just doesnt seem right to me. Most people have some type of reciever either through cable or satelitte.
