I read it differently, I believe he's saying that it doesn't matter if you have one, a sentiment I agree with.

NTSC (analog) will be completely obsolete Feb 09 - when everything will come though an ATSC tuner. That said - the reason I would want an fully integrated set (includes ATSC tuner) is that you can erect or use virtually any outside antenna - and get FREE HD programming if you are anywhere close (50 miles or so) to a metro area.
Don't know about other areas - but cable here is digital, but it is not HD. Dish has some HD content, but you have to have the HD box. Not that familier with Direct.
The best content we get here over the air through an antenna is the public TV broadcaster. They actually record in HD, and also broadcast in HD. Even the major networks do little to none of that.

I sell TV's of this type wholesale. As for 1080P, it is just the next big step to get your money. There is little to no content that is 1080P as of this date. What I have seen may be measureable - but not so much with the naked eye. I can't see it.
We have a 42" ED plasma set in the line, and when it is placed right next to the HD - most can't tell the difference. Any of the new HD or ED sets - when brought home - will blow you away with the picture if they have a proper HD digital signal coming in.

I got one too. When I ordered it said it was in stock but then I got a note saying it was backordered. I also have the $100 rebate and free shipping. I hope they honor the rebate from the order date not the ship date.

Just wanted to follow up, but got mine on the 17th (ordered late Sept 30). It is a FANTASTIC TV (especially for the price paid). I can't believe how much bigger it feels vs my old 30" LCD TV. Great image and no dead pixels for me.

I noticed in this week's Microcenter circular, the same tv is $1500 AR.
