4 or 5 msgs are not needed. I'll be happy to email the ad to anybody that needs its.

mmarcuse: the ad/promo i am sending or sent to people was advertised in Houston, Tx while not all had the monitor in stock those that did, definitely used this as the ad/promo. This was a sign that was actually displayed at the clearances rack. If you need anything else msg me i'll be happy to answer you.

If any of you get discouraged when one OD manager says he can't do it-just don't give up ok. just scored one,but I had to use some strategy.Last nights strategy was to get them to hold the monitor and go in there right before they closed.I showed them the SKU tag I printed out and cut to size and they balked, went and got their SKU tag which showed 299.99 -$50MIR=249.99.I said look this monitor is supposed to be on clearance at this price,I came all the way down here blah blah blah and they still wouldn't budge.Manager said that must have been that price last week and he had to go by their SKU card. walked out determined to find one at another OD in town.I called immediately from my cell phone and found a store that had two and got him to hold me one for tomorrow morning.Well this morning I went pumped up and with a better game plan.I get there and the guy goes to look for it in the back cause dude didn't leave it at customer service. While he's doing that I notice the monitor shelf didn't even have a sku card for the A90.Meanwhile out he comes with the A90F.Told him it's supposed to be the A90 that's on clearance and he says they only have the A90F for 299.99.I told him sorry I want the A90 cause it's clearance and way cheaper. He begrudgenly hauls that BIG A$$ monitor bact to the stock room.I then ask to use their phone to try another store and he says sure and some guy at another store checks all the local stores inventory and says yes the store I was at was showing two A90s.He then told the guy some tip to search their inventory better and gave him the sku and some procedure and he says ok-I am showing two(they didn't even know they had them and there were no A90s on display). So this time he gets somebody else to go look for the Big A$$ monitor and he comes back with one. Before he even rings me up,I pull out the SKU card I printed and the Viewsonic rebate form and gave it to him.He reads my SKU card and starts punching the register keys.He looks puzzled as only one rebate prints out with the receipt and I said it's supposed to be 1 from OD and 1 from Viewsonic. He goes to talk to the manager and comes back.Punches something in the register and hands me $54.YES! Ka-Ching!! I guess at that point they just wanted to get me out of there and all of us happy.I believe the key to my success is(1) it was early after they opened and they were still waking up,didn't get enough coffee, etc. They looked like they were still half asleep -ha ha- and It worked to my advantage.(2) there was no SKU card on their shelf for the A90.(3) I shaved this morning, put on a Killer sweater with kaki pants.Nice shoes and matching coat.Last night I looked rather grungy and it must have hurt my chances.Today I looked like I own the town and scored.Every little bit helps I guess. So bottom line- find out which stores are showing inventory and be determined.Besides as was mentioned,on the 15th,in 13 days these babys are going to be $179 with the Viewsonic rebate anyways.I am now going to plug up the A90,install the latest XP drivers and let you guys know what I think about it shortly.

Nice TEDTALKER1. Did you try to use the in-store coupon that Staples has now ($30 off $150). I haven't tried so I am wondering if anyone has had success bringing in competitors coupon to OD. I'm not sure how far you wanted to push it with them . Also do you know what the EXACT policy is with refunding product price drops? Do you have to buy the product within a certain amount of time for them to give you the price difference? Does the OD you try to get the refund from, HAVE to have the monitor in stock? I could see those OD managers right now saying "Well, we don't have any in stock so we couldn't sell you one at that price anyways...blah, blah, blah...." Any thoughts?

KevisBruceLee,I don't have a Staples in Memphis, but If we did,I would have asked if I could use it once I saw him punching the first keys on the register..On the price drop question,I am not sure but I think if you get one and the price drops within 30 days in their system, they should honor it.Call OD and find out or check the web policy page.I am still extremely happy at getting this monitor for only $124 after MIR and getting the $50 instant rebate. This monitor is better than my ADI Miroscan 6P "19.The A90 has a brighter screen and text looks a little better. My wife now gets the ADI and this will hold me over untill flat panel 19 inchers become more affordable. And Kevis, thanks for sending the SKU card to me.You rock dude!I am happy and my eyes thank you also. This monitor is a steal at this price.Three years parts and Labor. It's a no brainer.

Just got back from a local Office Depot and they took the $30 off $100 Staples coupon. It was a difficult journey for my first deal though. I called an Office Depot (City of Industry, CA) and the manager said he would take the coupon. I get the coupon and tried to go last night. But I thought...wait....let me call. So I call the SAME store and the night manager said that he couldn't take it. So I drop the morning manager's name and all I heard was silence on the other end of the phone.."Ummm...we dont take competitor's coupons". OK, so I got pissed and called another local Office Depot (North Fullerton, CA). The lady says..."Yea we take other competitor's coupons." Learning from my mistake I drive down there immediately. She said she would have to return the item (credit my account) and the repurchase it with the coupon. But it was bought on my wife's VISA. So I had her sign the coupon stating that she will accept the coupon. So far $224 - $50 MIR -$30 coupon = Cost of Viewsonic 19' monitor to date...$144 Still patiently waiting for 2/15 to roll around.

The manager at the Fresno store just refunded me $54 on the monitor. Price to date is $224 - $54 refund - $30 off staples coupon w/ $50 viewsonic reabte to come. Total will be $90 after the final tally here. Fresno stores seem to be out of these. Hope to PM this one on 2/15/02 for the deal of the year.

Good going.

I am using the A90 monitor on my son's PC and it is a great improvement over the old 17" ... The colors are great and it has nice crisp text (running 1024X768 24Bit Color 85Hz).

Although not as nice as my 19" Trinitron... but for the price I am not complaining

will someone please email me the ad too? I really need this in my "combat for a deal" These employees let me get away w/ one for $179 and now I'm trying to get another for work. I don't think that they like the fact that that rebate can be sent in by the company too (if it can that is)

Well...we'll see

God Bless

as you all can tell im a virgin on this website..so dont laugh. but i went to my local OD (very run down in the ghetto) and they have 3 left(no wonder). the problem i am having is that it is 254 not 224, with only one rebate showing for 50, totaling 204 final price. will someone break this newbies cherry and school me on how to hustle my way into the 124 deal? thanks.

I bought the Phillips as follows:

price 279: less 30 instant rebate, less 100 mir, less price match of Staples coupon for 30

total paid: 119.

First I called the local OD, there are two in my area, (one in a county where the tax is 2% less) I asked the person who answered the phone if they took competitors coupons, she said "yes" I took her name, and when asked at the store "who said" I could use the Staples coupon I simply gave the person's name.

Zip, zam, zoom, I was out the door with the deal. All above board and no hastle.

<< Went to OD to score one of the KDS monitors for 90 AR's and saw this deal posted on the shelf above it. They have the A90 on sale for 224.00. The break down is as follows:

224.00 Sale price
50.00 Office Depot MIR
50.00 ViewSonic MIR
20.00 (off 100.00 coupon)

104.00 net for a 19" monitor (YMMV) or 154.00 if only 1 rebate goes through

The OD coupon printed up at the register, so I would think this isn't just a local deal. The ViewSonic rebate form is available at Office Depot or print it out from the rebate center online. Both rebates expire 03/31/02. Check your mail or other resources for the coupon.
I bought this for my wife and she loves this monitor. So, if momma's happy everyone is happy!!! (at my house at least......lol)

UPDATE
After looking at my rebates this morning they were indeed to the same place (1st red flag) After work I went back to OD and talked to the gal at the return desk about the monitor purchase and my concerns about the 2 rebates. She said to send them in and they would be processed. I told her that would be fine but I would like a scan of the price tag (which stated 124.00 after 100.00 in rebates) signed by the manager, that way in the event the rebate didn't go through I would have proof of their deal and would return it along with the letter from the rebate center for credit from them directly. The gal calls the manager and i go through the thing with him again. We go over to the monitor section and the price tag on the shelf is gone. (2nd red flag) The manager says give him a minute to check his computer. He says he can't find the deal in the computer and before I can say anything he says I know the tag your talking about because I posted it. He said he would do a return and then re sold it to me at $174.00 and to go ahead and send in the 2 rebates, but admitted he wasn't sure if both would go through or not. I must say I was very impressed with the way he handled this and went the extra mile to ensure I got the advertised deal. I would suggest if possible to get a scan of the price tag and go for it. At the very least you'll get the A90 for 154.00 before taxes. I don't know if this was an Office Depot mistake on the rebates and it took the AT effect to make them realize it? When I repurchased the monitor only 1 rebate printed out.
One last note while the manager was in the price data base for this monitor I saw that the price will drop to 179.00 on 02/15/02. If this does happen do a PM and it will be pretty close to the original deal. Sorry for the long post but I just wanted pass along the information I had and what worked for me.
Good Luck!

<bump> Price on Viewsonic A90 to drop in two days from $224 to $179. Dust off those reciepts 'cause it's time to PM. If anyone can confirm this (like someone who works there ) then please drop some info on this thread.

AznAnubis, or anyone that has it email that ad please. I need it to help me adjust the price I got a little. I picked up a mint condition floor model for $170 (got the box), -50 for the MIR put me at 120 before tax. I hope that price drop happens, the manager was cool and told me that he would give me the difference if the price dropped (which would be $225-$170=$55). So with luck my total before taxes could be $170-50-55=65. Keep on the look out for that price drop.
