I have had a Viewsonic A70 for three years now and it has been a fantastic monitor, its on virtually 24/7 and has never given me the slightest problem.

I was going to go for the Samsung deal but considering the luck I have had with Viewsonic I think I will stay with them.

<BIG BUMP> I just got off the phone with the OD in City of Industry, CA and the CSR checked the price and it's down too $149 (by the sku) :Q !!!!!! Time to PM ASAP before OD decides that was a mistake and takes it up to $179 (the original scheduled price drop). I will let know what happens in a few hours....wish me luck.

EDIT: I checked with another OD in the local area and they confirmed the price (by the UPC).

after many unsuccessful attempts of getting the second rebate I had just about given up on the 50 dollars. But now i see that the price has dropped and you can pricematch. However like i said earlier i'm sort of new to the whole process of hotdeals. I purchased the montior February 1, you guys think they will accept my pricematch? And how do i go about doing so, do i have to unhook my monitor and bring back the box to officedepot? Thanks for all the information in advance.

ok you can do a price match within 30 days of the original purchase date printed on the receipt. the only thing you have to bring in is the receipt. just take your receipt up to the customer service desk hand it to them and say " i heard that the price droped and i wanted a price match" they'll pull it up in the computer print of a new receipt and hand you the cash. easiest money you'll ever make. if you payed with a credit card it might be a good idea to make shure you have the card and some ID, by check bring your checks and likewise some ID. not useually need but it never hurts. if they give you any trouble (this PM is incredibly ruteen so they shouldn't) just ask for a manager. i like to do all this kind of stuff at a store that i don't usualy shop at. keep things freindly on your home turf kinda deal.
anyway hay fun and tell us how it goes. ok i'm realy out now

Well my wife just got back from OD and refunded the CC $81 smackers. My wife just brought in the reciept and told a CSR. Then the CSR entered the UPC code, verified the price, credited our credit card, then marked the reciept (so not to use it again) So as it stands $224 (monitor) - $50 MIR - $30 ($30 off $100 Staples coupon) - $81 (price drop refund) = $63 Viewsonic 19' A90 monitor. Ohh yea and btw....When I did the Staples coupon with the CSR, one week ago, she gave me back the original coupon (showing we bought it for $224) and a new one showing the coupon used. So......dare I bring in the 2nd coupon (showing the coupon) and get another refund (because my wife only brought in the very first reciept showing the original price of $224)..... What is the Anandtech ethics on this....I am only 22 posts old.

I just got back from my local OD, The price there was $149.99. So I got it for 149.99 - $50 MIR - $30 Staples coupon Final cost w\tax $81.37 Thanks alot to all that posted this deal from a newbie here, but a reg. at amdmb. Think I'll be hanging out here more often!

just to make sure- the $81 you got back was the $75 difference + tax, right? $224.99-$149.99 = $75 + 8% =81. Just checking before I take off to rassle my $81 back.:Q

dude what the h*ll, i went in to get a PM and they tell me they can't do it because they don't have any in stock. thats bull they don't have any in stock because i just bought the last dam one. and there's no other stores in my area that have one. well i guess i'll try again at another store tomorrow and get somebody with better customer service skills. i've never heard of that stinking rule before when there matching there own price only when they match sombody else's price the item has to be in stock at the other store.

tried to do that a year ago when best buy had this monitor for like 225 after MIR but didn't have any left and OD was still charging 299.

I was planning on just returning mine today, but I got the pricematch instead. So it is 149.99-50.00(rebate)=100.00 I could not let that get away from me. This forum is going to bankrupt me!!!

I could not get the Staples coupon to work. How do you get the Staples coupon to work?

I didn't feel like the hassle with staples coupon. Went in with 2 reciepts and got both Price matched in seconds. $149 + tax -$50 rebate = $100 plus some tax dollars. Would be better for $70+ But i ain't complaining.

CLB006: Yes...the $81 was $74 plus the %8 tax...
bockchow: Tell them this (I know cause I had to once)..."Well if I return the monitor then you would have one in stock. Then I would just buy it back from you." Keep pushing the issue 'cause the manager is just being an a$$ if they are not PMing it. I called two different ODs and they both said it was ok, actually it was no problem at all!! Don't let them keep your $81!!!
boa: The reason it worked for me is just because there was a Staples across the street from the OD. I tried it at another OD before that one (no where near a Staples) and two different managers said two different things. The morning manager said yes and the night manager said no. So my advice is to try to go to an OD near a Staples or find a cool manager.

Hi,
Just got mine pricematched earlier this evening. Called the officedepot near work and inquired and they said everything I wanted to hear. But instead of going to that one, I decided to go home first and then go to the local officedpot after dinner. It was a bit of a hassle and the manager said that its against their policy to accept staples coupons and that pricematching is only effective for 7 days after purchase. After some discussion I told them to call the other officedepot and ask for the helpful csr I talked to earlier. The other csr basically said save him the drive and give him the pricematch. I will be exculsively shopping at the friendly place now.

but with the update yesterday i thought, might as well check it out again. and wham, $99 final + tax after rebate of course.

could have had another one here in town but someone, i am guessing from anand, down in oklahoma had them shipping the last one here in town.

sad thing is i think 5-6 months ago i paid $179 after rebate for my A70.
