I have no clue about the 900NF, but I hate the P95F+B. I bought one back in August. It had a blurry section in the screen when the refresh was put over 75Hz. It got "repaired" twice. Still had the same problem each time. It got replaced twice. Each replacement had the same problem. Just recently, Viewsonic actually replaced it again, but this time with a 21" G810. No focus problems now, but I had already bought a couple Dell 1800FP 18" lcds so I am selling the G810.

Get this: When I talked to the customer service guy last time, I explained the problem. He said that the P95F+B is known to have a "soft focus" and isn't the greatest for text applications or CAD. I then told him that on their website it says that the P95F+B is perfect for spreadsheet, CAD, and desktop publishing applications. He stammered for a bit and then said, "Well, be that as it may, it still does have a soft focus..." Yeah...Whatever.

I will never buy another Viewsonic product ever again. Give me one and I will immediately sell it.

I've never seen a P95f+ in action, but I just recently got a 900NF and I can say that it is an extremely nice monitor.

What about the 955DF, cheaper than both.
I had a look at a 955DF and wasn't impressed. I found text to be blurry around the edge of screen while it was fine in the center. Also, it only has an 85kHz horizontal refresh - just barely good enough for 85Hz at 1280x960. The 900NF has a fast enough hrefresh (110kHz) and is sharp enough to do 1600x1200 at 85Hz.

I have a P95f+ and it has the same blurriness problems as described by the guy above. It is, however, great for games and movies and such. I dont really think you can get a better monitor for games at this price point, but the text is blurry, especially at high refresh rates/resolution. I would go with the Samsung if I had the choice again, but i am thinking of trying to return my P95f+ again given the experience of the guy above.

Hey Lung,

What did you have to say in order to get them to replace it with another monitor?

I don't like either of those 2 monitors.. Not that they are bad.
They are good cheap low end monitors. It's just that my eyes
hurt trying to read on those. I've been using a Sony for
the last few years and it was nice, but it is now dead and
I tried getting another 3 more Sony's only to have them all
each die after a few weeks each. I thought maybe it was my power
or Videocard that was killing them, but who knows, replaced
everything and they still die on me..wierd. Anyway, long story
short I've got the viewsonic and it's okay.. but nothing great
so it's now on the crappy second computer for friends. My main Monitor
costed a little more bling bling, but the glory is all mine without the eye
problems before and it's huge!

NEC/Mitsubishi 22" CRT VGA Monitor Model FE2111SB-BK Black
$552.00

Worth the money... =)

If I had to pick...

The Samsung 900F is one of the best monitor in it's price range. The 900NF has very impressive features, such as a flat, aperture-grill CRT tube, a .25mm dot pitch, and up to a 76 Hz refresh rate at 1600x1200. Lower resolutions yield even higher refresh rates, and color and image quality are both top-notch.

Well... it's not cheap.. I was really thinking of the Viewsonic when I said that.
If you price it next to the NEC for 522$ it's cheap. But even that is not fair because
there is a size increase. The 900NF is the way to go if are on a budget but are looking for
good features and quality.

I have just ordered a P95f+ , as the reviews i read stated blurriness was only a problem if the bright option was used with text. Hope I am not disapointed. Looked at the 900nf, but is quite a bit more expensive in Canada.

I had to make the decision, and went with the Viewsonic P95f+B. I spend about 50/50 playing games and reading web pages. I have never had eye strain problems. I actually have had more of a problem when using LCD's than the Viewsonic. The only time I use the "bright" option is when I am watching movies from my couch. I used the NEC adjustment tool, and geometry and color are as close to accurate as I have seen on a $1000 or under monitor.

I will say this.... I had the P95F+ and I did not like it.... instead I returned it and got the Sony G410R. I also recently moved in with my g/f and she has a P95F+ and when she sees my Sony sitting next to hers she gets pissed, the Sony is SOOO much brighter and vivid, the viewsonic just seems faded and crappy. Both are less then 1 year old.
