Viewsonic PJ501 Projector

Found this through amazon, JR's has this LCD projector for 649.88 after a 100 dollar rebate. Newegg.com has this projector for $225 dollars more. According to the pictures on newegg it has all the jacks including component except for DVI. 1500 Lumens and a fairly light 5.4 lbs. Low contrast ratio of 400:1 but I can live with it for a sub-700 dollar projector.

Thnaks for the info-- researching these lately, and not sure if I want to get a 800x600 unit or not. Thinking it might be worth the extra dough to get a true HD resolution projector. Anyone know if my thinking is flawed or not on this?

Also, just saw the PC Magazine review-- gives it 3 of 5 stars, saying the following on this unit:

# Weight: 5.4 pounds
# Plus: Bright image, Lighted panel buttons, Good menu system
# Minus: Noisy cooling system, Heat and light leaks out of the back, No mouse on remote, Mediocre facial tones on video

Nothing wrong with your thinking, if you are planning on watching HD video on your projector it would probably be best to get a 1280x720 projector, I would reccommend something by Panasonic like the PT-L500 however you will be spending double the cost of this projector to get what you want.

An alternative to this projector though is the orginal X1 (not X1a or X2) for $699 from Tigerdirect is a better projector than the one shown http://www.tigerdirect.com/app...=1081956&CatId=265 however it is a DLP projector and some people are susceptible to rainbows (me being one of them and they give me horrific headaches.) So for someone like me who is looking for a cheap LCD projector, this seems like a great deal.
