Not bad, if you must have solid state. Otherwise, I'd hunt down a Muvo2 and extract the 4 gig microdrive for about $50 more.

Amazon.com had a slightly better price on this until recently, but now they've raised it.

I bought the card, and used it for about a week in my Canon Digital Rebel. After a couple days of use, I started noticing strangeness -- some images I knew I shot didn't get saved on the card, and others gave me read errors when I tried to retrieve them. After examining the Amazon.com reviews, I see other people complained about the same thing.

On top of that, writing to the card was sluggish, even in my digital rebel (which has a phenomenal buffering system).

I since bit the bullet and paid about $45 more for a card from newegg.com, the 45x Transcend 1 gig. Speeds are astounding, especially compared with the Viking card. So far, no trouble.

Usual disclaimer: I'm not somehow implying that everyone Viking card sold has a flaw. All I can tell you is that I had a problem with it that others have reported too. I'd definitely hold off on sending in for the rebate until you're sure the card is working well with your equipment.

What sparky said. It is pointless in spending so much money on 1GB when you can get 4GB with LESS. (Sell the empty muvo2 mp3 player for up to 80 bucks on ebay) 200-80 =$120. No compact flash can compete. Unless you got an old camera.

The muvo hack is certainly not for everyone. Lots of people aren't going to want to try it, and, as you no doubt know from reading other boards, people are finding units where the microdrive can't be removed.

As for "no compact flash can compete," I assume you're talking about price? Because on performance, no microdrive can compete with a fast compact flash.

Meanwhile, if you can direct us to a link for an in-stock Muvo for $200, I'm sure lots of AT-ers would be interested.

I have not heard of a single documented case where the Microdrive couldn't be removed. The most Creative has done is do some fancy formatting on the drive that makes it a bit more difficult to use standalone. This is a relatively slow, and somewhat unreliable CF card by many accounts. While the Muvo isn't in stock right now, it most likely will be within the next month. Just do a preorder on Amazon and you're set

I have a 2.2GB Microdrive, works well, I like CF cards because they do not chew through my batteries as fast as the Microdrives do. I thought all of the new Muvo 2 are soldered in.
