LA, now with double the King action. I guess you'd move them into the Pond? That would sure be weird...

This has been in the wind for a year or more. It's all over a Sacramento arena deal...but now that Sac has agreed to build a new arena...the Kings owners are backing out. <shrug>
I think that if they do move to LA, (actually Anaheim) they'll change their name to "The (Anaheim or Los Angeles) Royals."

http://news.lalate.com/2011/09/27/s...anaheim-royals-expected-for-2012-2013-season/

We'll see what happens, but as far as I'm concerned, Fuck the Maloof Brothers. Let them take their team elsewhere. Let someone else support their greed.

The Vikings really do need a new stadium, sucks that they might be moving. The Vikings/Packers rivalry is great. Would they keep them in the NFC North?

It is hilariously stupid that the NFL/owners think the communities should pay for the Stadiums. Those teams make literal truckloads of money. Let a few teams move around and lets see how fast those owners change their minds when apparel, ticket sales, and viewership drop.

The problem is, none of that will happen especially if you relocate to a market that hasn't had an NFL franchise before. The NFL prints money and there are lots of cities eager to claim a franchise and they'll have no problem selling tickets, etc.

Personally, I think the NFL should loan their owners money to build the stadiums.

I have a problem with teams abandoning stadiums after 30 years or less. Teams here did it twice (Colts and Pacers) and it pisses me off.

Why should the NFL fund it when there's a city out there that is willing to take a .005 cent tax increase for an NFL team. Let the Vikings move, Minnesota doesn't deserve them anymore.

We have to many stadiums, vikings can suck it!

A problem I can see as well, since we just built the Twin stadium, new U of M stadium, and the Wild stadium, I could see it getting very costly when they need repairs, or to be replaced.

At least you guys have Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio to watch for many years to come. Maybe the most talented young duo in the league.

Sorta Unrelated but still football:

I've been thinking. About 4 months ago all the ESPN analyst were saying Peyton Manning's Career was done. Then the Broncos picked him up and all of a sudden it's the best off season trade ever. Can't have it both ways. Also it seems everyone on ESPN have forgot Peyton missed all of last season due to injury. They're talking about him these days like he's 100% healthy.

I dunno, I just don't understand it.

I've never thought Peyton's career was over and that the Colts would be silly to trade him, and I think he'll have a good year this upcoming season.

Don't forget Target Center for the Wolves which went bankrupt and minneapolis bought. Now Minneapolis needs to pay the maintenance on Target Center and it is going to cost them $100-$150 million that they do not have.

Why should taxpayers fund it? Also, as someone who lives outside a city that twice increased taxes to build football stadiums, I can promise you that it isn't a "0.005%" increase. It is much, much more.

I know there are cities willing to fund it, but that wasn't what I was getting at.

Good, why should the middle class of MN buy a billionaire a new stadium so he can make more money?

A few months ago the legislature debated giving them a loan for the full amount at a low rate and they rejected it.

Finance it like nearly everybody else.

A loan would have been a better deal at least the state is not giving money away then. I do not remember that option but there is so much stadium talk that I cannot keep up with it.

Why should tax payers have to pay for a private organization? (glares at the government for bailouts, etc)

So the Vikings can leave. Good riddance. Balance their budget, pay their players less, take out a loan themselves, and market themselves appropriately. They constantly sell out the metrodome, so obviously they can sell tickets. Raise prices then, use that cash to pay for the stadium. Those who visit the games can enjoy the nicer stadium and can pay the premium.

Why should I have to pay for it? I don't even watch football and couldn't care less about sports.

I think the other side would argue that the stadium generates revenue for the city. The stadiums can hold concerts and other events.

Personally i would vote no to building one. Sure its fun to watch sports on tv but once they start raising my taxes to pay for it Im out.

Being a long time Rams fan (I can remember when Rosie Grier came to the Rams) I would never, if it were in my power to do so, let another NFL team go into LA. It's the dead end last stop on the NFL train. I'm sure you Raider's fans know what I mean.

Yep, not to mention the dipshit owners/NFL have a completely craptastic licensing deal through DirecTV where they are raping fans to watch their product, much more than NHL/MLB/NBA. If the product was that good, I (and pretty much everyone I know that likes football) would have DirecTV. We don't.

Gotta love rollerblading in the Dome too

It isn't just sporting events that the Dome holds, and I assume the new stadium will do similar activities as well.
