hmmm... this kind of shit is just crime, not terrorism, and should be handled as such? hmmm... thought i heard that idea postulated somewhere, but maybe not...

catch the twits (but not too fast, since it's great cinema), have a nice trial, get on with life... rule of law and all...

whatever happened to not giving bad guys the spotlight that they crave?

It's a rather fine line when Political Motivations are the cause.

We are talking about simple tea bagger vandalism, and regardless if its orchestrated by a higher up GOP power or not, its not hard to predict that their shit must stop, or one or more of these miscreants will be caught in the act.

And if they think that their crimes will be delimited to simple vandalism laws, they may discover that Federal Officials are protected by far sterner laws. How much is already known by various law enforcement officials may be the question, usually in cases like these, they may delay arrests so they can nail the ringleaders.

But even if its the acts of isolated idiots, some lucky smuck will be the first to be caught.
And their bail may be astronomical.

With respect to the window breaking, a conservative blogger has been identified and has openly taken credit for the incidents. He is a former militia movement leader. I think he encouraged the window breaking on his blog. I doubt he can be prosecuted for incitement, however, as the actual brick throwers haven't been caught and hence there is no proof of a direct causal link between his incitement and the acts.

Remember when we were all told by "the left" that the "teabaggers" were violent radical extremists while they shouted while remaining seated at town hall meetings. How much of all these stories now are truth, and how much is embellishment?

Something is seriously wrong in this country, and it's like, who *are* you people?

That's what you really suspect? Do you believe the GOP is that stupid? Actually we're not talking just "stupid", but you seriously suspect men high up in the GOP are bat-shit crazy?

We all know violence and crime does not win over the minds of middle America.

Luckily I have no team. You could read every post I've ever made here with a fine comb if you'd like.

I'm the first person to criticize something I love if it sucks/is wrong.

I guess the FBI cracks you up too... because they have been all over these threats/violence.

Law enforcement should be all over any threats/violence. I am simply stating that some context is due.

Assholes throwing bricks at windows does not equal assholes flying planes into buildings and killing thousands of people. It is that simple. Throwing bricks at windows does not equal domestic terrorism and if it does we have some serious problems with our laws.

Don't get me wrong, the assholes should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law but friggen terrorists because they throw a few bricks at windows? Come on.... With all the fucked up things going on in this country this shouldn't even be news. This isn't even equal to the gang/drug violence in a single US city on any given weekend. This only shows how utterly partisan this country has gotten, bricks thrown at a window is now terrorism if they openly dislike one of the two steaming piles of dogshit we call political parties.

As far as you personally, if I am wrong then I apologize but I assume that anyone who takes either extreme side of this argument is doing it for purely partisan reasons. I can't think of any other reason someone would associate a few broken windows to mass murder, suicide bombings, flying jumbo jets into buildings, etc...

It has been more than a few broken windows and I believe I even linked it in this thread(page 3).

Not so much fearmongering here as I very much hope I'm wrong. I'm not interested in seeing tea partiers hurl racial slurs and engage in violence just because it would discredit them. I'd rather have them play it smart and stay peaceful.

Yep. Leave the violence to the libs. It's what they do best.

Stay peaceful, folks; let the SEIU, and the like, have all the fun. Remember:

The Chicago 7 weren't conservatives.
The Weather Underground members weren't conservatives.
The Earth Liberation Front isn't a conservative group.
The people who rioted after the Rodney King verdict weren't conservatives.
The average college kid who spat on Viet Nam vets wasn't a conservative.
The guy who crashed his plane into the IRS building hated Bush.

Civil disobedience, and violence, is a time-honored liberal tradition; let them keep it for themselves. Don't be like the exceptions to this rule, the OK City bomber boys and the tools who violated abortion clinics.

Remember:

Only liberal dissention is patriotic.
All non-liberals do not have the innate evolutionary / moral superiority to use such noble tactics. When non-liberals use such means they are base, evil, non-patriotic.
Liberals are superior to you, so they are free from the normal conventions that must be placed upon the common (unevolved) man.

In other words - shut up and let the enlightened guide you, as is their right.

Maybe this can lead to someone, like a Sarah Palin, getting elected as president. Followed by a certain WWIII and the end of all civilization. Then we won't need to worry about healthcare. Imagine if one of the tea bagger mind sets would have been sitting in the Whitehouse during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. I doubt any of us would be here posting on Anandtech today. And the only thing close to the internet would be markings on the wall of a cave. Food for thought?

The civil war was due to right wing violence...

The KKK was and is right wing.

Black Legion was right wing.

Civil rights/segregation violence was right wing.

Tim Mcveigh was right wing.

Abortion bombers are right wing.

Are you trying to claim that Andrew Joseph Stack was liberal? Haha!

In a word - YES, considering the way that they are conducting themselves.

They have proven over the course of time that they do not know how to govern this nation,
and now they want to reinforce the image that they don't even know how to lead.

Well what then can they do? - they can start wars by pushing the concept of fear on cowards.
Distortion of facts and lies, today's GOP.

It won't be too long and a nationalist party will be trying to end our single payer universal health care and the Tea Baggers will be our in the millions throwing bricks to protect their inalienable rights to health. All the fucking loons who want bricks to go toward reformers today will be throwing them in the other direction.

Too funny. It's like 2001 - 2008 never even happened. Heck, I see posters in this very thread that espoused/cheered violence against right wingers now crying like little babies about the big mean tea-partiers.

The tree of liberty only drinks the blood of tyrants and patriots. I'm pretty sure just the blood of just one party wouldn't help it grow, it's a non-partisan tree.

Tires getting slashed...

etc.
