Please bear with me...Original post was nothing but Gobbledygook!!! Have been looking and reading and am now ready to attempt my first build. I am wanting to build something for video editing/encoding, music, photoshopping and maybe TV one day. Just don't want it to wheeze too bad when I try to do 2 or3 things at once...This is what I came up with:

ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz

OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel

Thermaltake M9 VI1000BNS Black SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

XCLIO STABLEPOWER 500W 500W ATX Power Supply

EVGA 256-P2-N751-TR GeForce 8600 GT 256MB

Creative Sound Blaster SB0570 Audigy SE

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

PHILIPS 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe

ASUS 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA Model DRW-2014L1T

Trying two different opticals just to see which one I like...anyway looking forward to getting my hands dirty...Hope this is more legible and makes enough sense to offer up some pointers!:moon:

Can't wait to get up to speed on forum procedure so I can feel like I belong!:sun:

Tell you what, if you could break that long uninterrupted piece of AIMspeak crap into coherent thoughts, I would be more than happy to take a look at it. As it is right now, you just need some return breaks in there to make it work.

Just take your original post, press return before the first component, and then just hit return after each component.

Don't really know what components this will support. I was just going to use 22" moniter for now until I learn more. I will be proud if I just get this together...and running!!! Want WinXP Pro. Any thoughts....? Only broadband would be satellite(AWFUL PRICEY) so am left with D(ie)al-up for now. Guess shen the time comes I will be seeking advice in another forum. So far this has turned out to be the most helpful community I have found. I am 46 yrs. old and just now getting my feet wet.

Well, the important thing to remember is that it is actually much easier than you might think. Most all the pieces are keyed to only fit in one direction, which reduces the possibility of error. Another biggee to remember is if you are using the stock heatsink then go ahead and use the stock thermal paste. If you are using an aftermarket heatsink, then you have to be really careful with the thermal paste, don't go too thick, or too thin.

I am now looking @ the possibility of building around the Q9450. Not quite as fast i guess but someone suggested for heavy editing/encoding apps so throw everything out the window for a while. Very fluid situation...(LOL)

Get an 8800GTS 512mb G92 card, not that GT.....

you fail to give us the purpose of this computer...video editing, gaming, word processing, etc.

And I would edit your OP if you want anyone to take your post seriously, because reading through that really blew.

Really, really new at this looking for advice, community posting thing if you can't tell.

Want to build upper mid-level rig for video editing, photoshopping, music, the usual editing/encoding process. Just want something that won't bog down too bad and won't have to be upgraded next week.

thanks for all the advice...both technical & procedural...

I have roughly 1500 to 1800 to spend before periphals, but would like to squeeze in a new video camera if I could. I'm really after new system first because I can have friends & family send me their vids & pics to work with.
