Virtual Memory Too Low?

Okay, a friend of mine is having a problem. A warning pops up saying that "Virtual Memory is too low" I walked her through the steps to find out how much RAM she had, and to see how much virtual memory she had, and the virtual memory was set to 960, and she has 480mb of RAM.....im assuming that theres nothing wrong with the setting of 960....what do you guys think could be wrong? I know the page file could be corrupt but are there any other ideas you guys could think of that may be the cause of the problem?

Is she running out of hard drive space on the c: drive? Also, is this 98, 2k, or XP? you might want to consider setting virtual memory to be managed by windows.

if it's a popup off the internet it's just a hoax and ignore it, but if it's an actual windows popup i don't see why you wouldn't have sufficient memory.. thats quite a bit of memory.. but if in fact thats the case.. try turning some programs off at start up

btw, just an observation. it is impossible to have 480 megs of ram. they only come in increments of 64

dont know how its possible, or if its what shes using or not....but:

32 + 64 + 128 + 256 = 480

Don't know what OS is in use here, but if hard drive space isn't the issue you could, if you feel like trying this, disable virtual memory altogether, reboot, defrag, reset vitual memory (let Windows handle it), reboot. You could even defrag again if you felt like it, then reboot again. Try it & see if the problem persists. -kd5-
