Virus alet? "Inetwiz.exe"

I got an E-mail with the following text:

Subject: having in the general

Will successfully complete classroom assignments.Activity (45 Min): Students will be assisted to complete classroom assignments.Objective: Students will utilize organizational tools.Activity (8Min.): Notebooks and agendas will be checked.WednesdayObjective: Students will understand their learning disability and develop strategies to overcome the obstacles it presents.

The attachment was infected with a virus . . . don't know if this one going around or what, but I don't know the person who forwarded it me.

Strange message. I work at an ISP, and no one's called up with that virus, or anyother viruses lately... Anyway, was your virus protection software able to kill it? If I hear anything about it, I'll let you know.

did it calle the virus "intetwiz.exe" ? or was it some other name and that was just the attachment name?

i'm in charge of a couple thousand college users here and i haven't seen it either

I forget the actual name of that virus but it is very common. My email firewall at work blocks about 30 of them a day. It's an Outlook virus that sends itself to people in your address book without you being aware of it. (I think Outlook Express is the only Outlook flavor that it effects if I remember correctly.) The beast attaches a program from your Windows directory that it has infected. Inetwiz.exe is common, cfgwiz.exe is also common but it can be any executable from your Windows directory.

Yes, Norton 2000 killed it.

It's an Outlook virus that sends itself to people in your address book without you being aware of it.

So I was in the address book of the person I got this from? I don't even know who it is, interesting . . .

Don't know about that specific one but many of these spoof the return address so who knows who it came from!

a girl came in to where i work as a support tech and had a problem with something like that. apparently its a network aware virus (like a hibrid virus/worm) that composes its own emails and sends them with infected attachments. so if you get an email that doesnt make any sense and has an attachment from someone you dont know, dont open it (DUH!)

i recommend AVG, by grisoft. its a freeware virusscanner that is really good, very very high detection rates, norton and mcafee both really suck.
