VISA IPO is gonna be a blast

It's still set for Wednesday right? I'm trying to figure out how well it will go up in a short time. Most of the companies if not all stated they will sell 1/3 of their stake on V in order to pay off debts. They can't sell right away am I right. They have to hold their shares for a certain period of time before a second offering.

If they truly are thinking of selling in the short term that means they won't be buying. That means V's stock price won't be skyrocketing as fast as I'd like or it could go below IPO price. Afterall it's the big money managers that control where the price goes.

i just did an audit of all my credit cards, new and old (i keep the old ones in a drawer), if they're not AMEX, they're MasterCard. not visa. i doubt visa would have the same rise as MasterCard did. especially in this mess of a market this week.

From what I can tell the reason V is doing this now is so that the underwriters can cash in and pay off their debts as soon as possible.

At this point they are such a mature company, what could they possibly need IPO money for?

For Google it allowed rapid expansion, but VISA has resources and infrastructure all over the world, why IPO? Why now?

I'm not really sure FoBoT.

It seems like a wrong step to me.

You become open to a lot more oversight, and are vulnerable in a lot more areas as a public company. As a private company you can really contain and direct your affairs a lot easier. I see it as steering a car versus steering a ship, a public company is a much harder beast to handle.

Why an IPO? My guess would be to raise capital to purchase other companies.

Did you see what Mastercard did in it's first year of IPO?

One of the worst mistakes I made was not buying the couple hundred shares of MA that I was considering a week after it hit the market.

Mastercard IPO went bonkers. IPO Price at 30, opened at $52 in regular trading. ABout $150 right now.

Really pissed that I got out at $65

Same here, I got a little concerned when the initial frenzy drove the price up quickly, I didn't want to be one of the suckers buying in high in that process, but as it turns out buying it there was a tremendous steal.... hindsight being 20/20 and all
