VISA IPO is gonna be a blast

Using Scottrade. I placed my order for 200 shares at market. It's in the open order que, but looks like it's in limbo. I can't modify or cancel order. WTF both feature are disabled.

ok so im a little confused. i've had my scottrade streamer opened since this morning and didnt see any action on the Visa stock until now. First the price was at 65, then at 60, but those prices held for a while with not much buying and selling going on. Now I see lots of buying and selling (mostly selling) with the price jumping around $58

why was it so stagnant at first?

CEO was the first to trade shares. They waited and chose an opening of $60 because there were so many different bids from 44-60.

EDIT: I'm in long at a bit under $60. Although the price at closing may be lower, I'm in this thing for the long run.

yeah this might hurt a bit! but i lost so much this year i think i can lose another 6 grand. but i doubt they would lose 100% like BSC! ROFL!

thats what i did when i bought VMWare. i got out near the top around $104 or so.
if i get a healthy gain (doubt it in this case) i'll get out, wait for the IPO gang to leave and when the dust settles, get in for long.

(I'm still waiting for VMW to drop lower to get in for long term)

I would advise to hold it for a while. If they are anything like Mastercard, you'll be happy you did.

I think the initial drop is from them opening high. I think it will be a good long term stock. But then again what do i know. Im still hoping for it to fall a bit more before i go in.

yeah i may as well. like i said, i lost enough this year that if this fell to 40 i'm still not sad. which in and of itself is a sad sight.

VMW and BX are down 3-4% on no news. maybe the IPO addicts left to buy V? :laugh:

picking up some steam now: above 57. the trend with VMW was that it went down a few days then shot off. While MA (Mastercard) took a good 2-3 months before going to the roof
i gotta stop looking and do some real work and make some more money so i can lose at the market :laugh:

this is the exact reason why you should consider using margin. i don't recommend trading actively using the margin account (unless you're a day trader and you know what you're doing) but it serves you well for purposes like this.

The IPO was yesterday. Today was the first day Visa opened on the NYSE for trading.

I actually saw this twice on my E-Trade real time streamer. I think maybe somebody placed a market order and just got unlucky?
