Vision difference between two eyes

I have recently noticed that my right eye seems to have slightly worse vision than my left eye. For example, if I close my right eye, I can view everything nice and sharp. However, when I close my left eye, there is a slight blur around text viewed from a far distance (more than 3ft).

It doesn't seem to affect my vision as a whole, but is this normal? Am I going blind at the age of 15? I've only recently noticed this (which means it may've stuck with me since birth).

I think it's pretty common that people have one eye with worse vision than the other. You probably want to get it checked by an Optometrist.

My left eye is -6.25 and my right is -5.75 or something. Some people even have -0.5/-2.00.

You are not perfectly symmetrical. Regardless, go see an optometrist, stat.

It's a common issue, you should get your eyes checked because you generally don't know whether you need glasses unless you've tried them, or you're already near blind.

This is absolutely normal to not have them perfectly in sync


I started needing glasses at about 15 because I couldn't read the chalk-board anymore. Pretty funny because I played football that same year and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't catch the ball....lol

I have the same problem. My optometrists sometimes comment about it when I go in for my annual contact lens refit. In my case, it's slight astigmatism in my left eye.

Yeah, same in my case, except left = -3.00, right = -2.75

i think it's pretty normal for a .25/.5 difference between your two eyes

My eyes are off by about .25. It is pretty normal really. Most people have semi-lopsided eyes and such. Humans just aren't perfectly symmetrical.

I got my first pair of glasses when I was in seventh grade. I had moved to the front row in math class in an attempt to read the board. I turned to the guy sitting next to me and commented about not being able to read the board and he took off his glasses and handed them to me.

Wow! I could read the board! I had no idea I needed glasses. Told my mother and she took my younger sister in to the eye doctor too and we found out that her vision was about twice as bad as mine.

As a kid, you just don't know any better and think that everyone sees the same as you do.

left -4, right -3.25, but the right has an uncorrected astigmatism so the left is better corrected

I work for an optometrist and that is perfectly normal. My vision is -2.50, -3.00. You need to have a check-up

Yeah, I was in eighth grade when I got my first glasses. It was great. I grew up thinking that cameras were magical because stuff in photographs was so much clearer and sharper than in real life. The ophthalmologist was trying to give me a sales pitch for glasses thinking that he would have a hard time convincing an eighth grader to wear them. I was like "Give me those!"


Edit: Back on topic, my right eye is slightly worse than my left. Both together are better than either alone which I guess is the mysterious image processing power of the brain working with what little it's has to go on.

My eyes see about the same, but I do notice a slight color difference between what I see out of my right and what I see from my left. I don't know if it is related, but they are also different colors themselves =/

Yeah, I had an eye doctor that gave me that explanation. Something about 20/40 vision in each eye individually (with my contacts in), but 20/20 together.
