<< I'm very surprised that everyone in the Midwest is having so much trouble getting their scanner. I live in Valley View, OH (Cleveland suburb), and I got my scanner 4 days ago even though it wasn't slated to arrive until the 8th. Don't know where they sent it from, though. >>

I'm kinda surprised too. I live in Michigan, and mine was shipped from Ohio! Re: the scanner. For those of you who didn't get in on the deal, if you want this scanner for your own personal use, I would not recommend it. I have 7 scanners, and this one produces the poorest quality scans out of any of them. Unless you are on a *real* tight budget, I would pass on this one. Just my 2¢.

I got mine Wednesday. Price matched Thursday using AE Blue. If all works well. Final result... $85 after tax -$40 PM -$70 rebate= -$25. Money in my pocket and the scanner to boot.

Hmm, this sucks, I got the scanner today and was pretty excited. However, it appears to be defective. I install the drivers and all, and hook up the scanner to power and USB. Then I unlock the head unit and turn it on. Scanner is detected and looks good to go. When you try to scan anything though, the head only moves about an inch and then stops... it sounds pretty loud too. Thinking I'll have to exchange this one.

The Daytona Beach Florida store store had a few of these yesterday. I had to pick up another one and price matched it to 59.xx since I ebayed the first one

<< Try unlocking the scanner (on the bottom of the scanner) >>

I did unlock it. Multiple times, just to make sure it was working right, and I looked in the scanner with a flashlight and it was indeed unlocked. The head unit will move but only an inch or so before it stops. Then when you turn off the scanner and turn it back on, the head unit returns to its normal position.

IamAddicted,

really? blue usually takes into account the coupon, so it's 85-59.95 = 25 pm

thus 85-25-70 = -10

Question.. about rebate

Suppose you get this at B&M and pay $65 (PM with Buydig.com) and the rebate is for $70. Do you think we'll get the rebate?
Or is there a clause somewhere in rebate that states rebate can't excede the purchase price? BTW, I read the rebate and see nothing... but just want to be sure..

Just wondering.

just jump in this deal. Hopefully will not get a OOS email later.
But i work a bit different on this deal:
Since i am going to use AMEX PM anyway, there is no difference you use the coupon off or not because AMEX take account with the coupon, the final price before rebate of the scanner will be 59 (the other site's price):
99 - 40 (check from AMEX for BVG) = 59.
So, i add the BIC wipe out (also free AR) 3.99

and the computer backpack(#471600)! (59.99 - 59.99 for order over 100)

so i get a free backpack with the same money money you have.

When I called it in the csr did not seem to mind that the coupon was on the order. They did ask because total was less than the product itself but I think he put the info down as the total on the item only.

The AMEX blue CSR will only see your invoice and only the one with your scanner.... Let me give an example here:
If i buy a scanner for 99 and some paper for 10. I use a $20 off coupon. Most likely you will get two order (box) from staples since they may come from 2 different warehouse/location. In the scanner box, they will have an INVOICE of 99-20 +tax = 84 (depend on the tax). Also another box will have an invoice of $10. So what do you send (fax) to AMEX blue CSR? the invoice with $84 on it and they will see the price is 79 (99-20)... get it?

Why i know? Because i got "burned" before.... it so happened that i buy a few things in an order and only the one i want to get BVG has the coupon on it! The CSR since they are different items on your BLUE card (it will be 2 transaction, one is $84, one is 10), they don't care if it is the same order.

Unless your coupon is on the $10 paper....

FWIW - Those who are on the edge (and not being thwarted by it being OOS) this scanner works great in Win2K. I was skeptical when I heard that PaperPort 6 (which it lists as included SW on the box) but mine came with 7, which works with Win2k/XP. Granted, I don't really use PaperPort but I tried out the TextBridge OCR SW is decent -- it has pretty good integration with MS Word.

The TWAIN scanning in Photoshop also works well. For 9 bucks, this is a pretty good deal... I was always on the edge of buying like a $300 HP scanner but I didn't know that I'd use it too much. Now I guess I'll find out whether that $300 would've been worth it!

I bought an Epson 880 printer at Dell last Oct for 129 and used a 25 off 100 coupon for a total of 104. I then used BVG from Blue against OD who was selling for 69.99. Amex gave me the 34 bucks because the invoice was for 104. They DO take into account the coupon. How on earth are they going to pricematch me at 129 when I only paid 104. I wouldn't expect Amex to PM before the coupon, because if they did, BVG would go down the toilet from abuse.

Just got my scanner Today! Got a big box with one little box of paperclips inside, yesterday. Scanner USB installation was painless, the scans are quiet. What a great deal! But seriously, the main reason I bought this deal was for the Textbridge Pro 8.0 and FormTyper software programs that are included. These 2 programs are worth much more than I paid for the deal. You guys should check them out!

Thanks again for the deal "thenew3" !!!

Where would I be without my AnandTech friends??? Without most of my new toys!

I called and PM'ed the two I bought (I also ordered one for a co-worker who was in the market for a scanner). It was so easy, it was amazing. The CSR knew the scanner I was talking about and even asked if it was Andara Tech I was PM'ing against! Now I feel foolish for not having taken advantage of one of the freebies I could have gotten with a $100 order and just letting AMEX PM the whole $40, but I guess this way Staples and AMEX both pay their share.

Thanks again for posting this deal!

If you haven't got in on this deal yet and live near a Staples B&M... why not go in with THIS and PM to get the scanner for $63.52 ... then apply for the $70 rebate!

I got this today and although they did have to add in $5 (shipping) so my total with tax was just under $75. ( then just $5 after MIR )

Can't wait to get home from work and plug in my new scanner...

Interesting that folks have gone to their local B&M and successfully PM'd with Andara and other similar ads. I went to my local Staples with the Andara ad in hand, only to be shown a PriceMatch policy that clearly states that Staples will match price after rebate is figured in. The manager was adamant that his price was better because of the rebate and refused to lower the price. What did I miss? My hope is to get in on a President's day deal...

Anyone familiar with Amex Blues BVG can you answer a question? I just called to get my scanner pm'd and I was told that I would only get 28.29 back. The csr said they adjust the price from the amount that was charged to your credit card, not the selling price. He also said they take coupons/credits into consideration when doing pm's. Is this true? I've never done a pm with this card so I'm not familiar with the terms.

I've already got a scanner, but I jumped on this deal to use for a shoplight. Does fine if you work quickly.

Carman:
Read my previous post, (up 4 or 5 from you). BVG will figure the final price you paid, not the selling price before coupons.

Well.. in my case, I guess the CSR didn't follow the PM policy properly ... he even called the manager over to approve the PM and the manager stated that he would PM no problems... but had to add in $5 which he said was to cover the internet store's shipping charge.

Sometimes a HotDeal requires a little luck

If you can .. try another Staples Store.

Thanks esquared. I had read your post earlier but I guess it didn't click in my head.

The other thing the csr said they will consider before doing a pm is if there is a rebate offered on the item. Amex Blue's policy sounds an awful lot like Staples policy.
