Also, the clock speeds are running slower than default (@ 500/750), according to gpu-z Also, rivatuner is showing that the memory bandwidth is only 48.0 gb/s !!

Right click desktop > Catalyst Control Center. 500/750 is probably the 2D clocks, the clockspeed is lower in 2d mode to save power and run cooler. Also probably better to use the 4800 hotfix drivers from ATI's site.

Right click on the volume control in the taskbar, select playback devices, and make sure the proper device is selected as the default playback device.

Rivatuner doesn't support the RV770 yet in 2.09. Use CCC to overclock. As I said, 500/750 is likely the 2D clocks- nothing wrong there.

Yeah when I tabbed out of Counterstrike Source it appeared to be there. GPU-Z still shows 48 memory band width, would that increase as well during gaming? Not a huge jump from my 8800gs xfx...

It will show a higher bandwidth when the 3D clocks are used (gaming or running a 3D application like Furmark)- GPU-Z sometimes displays the 3D clocks as 'Default clock'.

No, open the Overdrive tab in CCC and it will tell you. GPU-Z will aswell, if you want confirmation you can monitor clockspeeds in the background with GPU-Z 0.25, if you have this open with a 3D app you can see temps/clockspeeds. There is plenty of this kind of information availiable in a quick google search and plenty of reviews.

I must admit I'm not very impressed with this card. Crysis and UT3 run at the same fps at the same settings that my 8800gs did. In fact, it seems like it runs a tiny bit worse. Cod4 runs great though, so idk if it's the drivers or what though I think I just might settle for an 8800gt/9600gt/3870.

Did you use some software to clean out the old Nvidia drivers before you installed the ATI card? If no, then you can't expect perfect results.

Before you ask, here is the link: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1655

I would uninstall the ATI drivers, then use the cleaner to clean all ATI and Nvidia drivers, and finally reinstall the new card software.

Another reference, my system:

Vista 32
X2 5000+ @ 2.9
2 gigs
Visiontek 4850
500 Watt Ultra X-connect (using 2x 4pin > PCI-E)
Abit KN9 SLI

Just scored 9845 in 3dmark, which apparently is also somewhat low although my ram and psu are cheap.

SM 2.0: 4377
SM 3.0: 5083
CPU: 2018

I'm also having trouble managing playable frames with Crysis, 1440x900 at medium is pretty much the first smooth setting.

COD 4 however is silk @1900x1200 maxed so go figure.

Probably your CPU holding you back, this is with a E2180 @ 3.2:

Stock clock:
3DMark Score 11372 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 4631
SM 3.0 Score 5635
CPU Score 2764

@ 690/1183
3DMark Score 12130 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 5092
SM 3.0 Score 6104
CPU Score 2764

Had no problems with any games or 3dmark with memory at 1183 but would see artifacts in FurMark, ended up having to drop to 1135 to get rid of the artifacts.

I upgraded to a q6600 from a E2160 and wow I can tell the difference. I can run crysis at high settings at 1900x1200 with no slowdowns yet and *cough* WoW runs at constant 60fps unlike with my 8800gt which dipped in certain areas.

My Specs:
q6600 @ 3.2
HIS 4850
OCZ 4GB
Vista 64 Ultimate

Thanks for the responses guys, and thanks for the link PG ! I have a Phenom 9500 @ 2.2ghz. I don't see how it can be bottlenecking me though....I also have 4 gigs of ram @ 667 and I'm running 32-bit vista home premium
