maybe it is not the most overclockable card available, but its a nice price! it seems these cards are going low , low , maybe we should wait a couple of weeks, and maybe theyll be below 100$ , all thanks to the the overrated geforceFX, HEHE!

FRYS the B&M gives you that excuse.

the only problem they ever gave me was when the Sunnyvale Frys sold a dvd player for 70 bucks on error that i bought and corrected the problem it took a receipt for them to give me a 2nd one at 70 bucks.

they PM to other stores no problem for me. maybe I'm lucky for something.

Or if you would rather the ABIT 4200 with the heatpump cooling.......

1 (VC-ABIT-003)ABIT Siluro GeForce4 Ti4200 64MB OTES Retail 1 x $115 = $115.00
Subtotal $115.00
Tax(CA 8.25%) $0.00
Shipping(FREE FedEx Express SVR) $0.00
Order total $115.00

(Currently $114.00)

I got one last week and overclocked it to Ti4600 speeds (300mhz/600mhz) using coolbits. Sweet card at a sweet price.

Gameve.com reseller ratings aren't the highest, but I took the chance. They even got it to me in 2 days instead of the 3 advertised!!

I'm going to wait a month or two and see how much the price of the 4600 comes down. I only want to pay $150

Already have Riva tuner. I bought a Gainward g4 4200ti for 95 off of FS/FT last month and NOTHING but trouble with it. So I am replacing that with this ( curretnly had to throw win an old TNT to even use this rig.

NOw just have to save up for some good Oc'ing ram for my 8rda+,and xp2100Tbred thats on the way to replace my 8kha+ and 1600 Palamino (which is going to my 5 year old

Once prices on the 9700s come down in 6 mos or so, I will go to that, I dont play anything that needs it just yet anyway

Funny - I was listening to everyone talk about how the 9700 would drive down GF4 prices, but is hasn't happened much. Then the Radeon 9500 was going to really force down the GF4 prices, but they haven't changed $10 since it came out (in fact, my GF4 4400 from Newegg went UP $30).

Bottom line - the prices WILL come down, but it's not an exact science. If you're waiting for prices to drop, you might get lucky, or you might wait two months and not see a drop at all.

Can anyone gives me reasons to upgrade my display, or spend more than $100 on a display card if the only game I play is War Craft, and no other 3d applications or games?

The only reason I can think of is to add DVI...

mboy, perhaps your ti4200 has a problematic capacitor?
Gainward has made a real mess with their GF4 lines, it's been covered at many sites
regarding the problem with capacitors on Painward's GF4 cards.

I think you are probably, correct, but I do not have receipt as I bought it off of fs/ft froum and I replaced the stock cooler with a TT g4 cooler and threw the stock one away, so I do not think I could have gainward fix it :-(

how does this Visiontek compare to the same stats PNY that is on sale AR for 99.99 at CompUSA? are they comparable quality? comparable features?

www.visiontek.com doesnt seem to have any actual products listed??? so i cant even check to see if this is a dual head card... (im pretty sure PNY is dual head?)... at least i know it has DVI from outpost listing

Prices haven't come down much on nvidias because the majority of people buying nvidias seem to only want nvidias. If they realized how cheap they could get a 9700 for and that it kicks the 4600 butt maybe they'd think differently. I doubt nvidia themselves is offering any kickbacks to people either since they don't really have another cash making product right now.

The prices are almost guaranteed to come down in the next month or so. The Geforce FX is supposed to be out by March isn't it? That will drive down prices more than anything ATI is doing.

The 9700 prices are not cheap, they are way overpriced in my opinion. Especially their "Pro" line. The ATI cards also have major compatability problems with many brands of motherboards. I've also read plenty of messages from people who have purchased the 9700 only to be disappointed because its not as fast as the hype it gets. Some have even said their previous 4600 was slightly faster.

The only advantage I see that the 9700 has is the AA filtering and not losing as much in framerates when its on. But some people like me never use AA anyways because I can't even tell difference unless I get out a magnifying glass to look while playing the game. Notice how all the reviews have to blow up the picture huge so you can see it.

My Fry's was checking my defective motherboard up and down. They made sure the serial number on motherboard match the reciept.
