I'm looking at these two cards and need some opinions from people who have used either or know a little more about these brands than I do, looking on newegg, Vision TEk is 319 and leaktek is 300, don't plan on overclocking, just want the better card.

I can't speak on behalf of the Visiontek Ti 500 ... but I bought the Ti 200 and it overclocks perfectly to 220/500. That is the max that the cool bits registry "fix" will allow. No problems at all. The Ti 500 is normally clocked at 240/500. My Ti 200 started at 175/400.

Well, I haven't used the Leadtek Ti500, but I have been extremely happy with my Visiontek Ti500. The 2d quality on my computer has improved over my previous card a Gainward GF2 Pro/450 on a 19" IBM P96 FD Trinitron monitor at 1280x1024x32bpp @85hz. I only tested the S-video out one time and it seems to be alright, but I haven't thoroughly tested it. Since I don't have an LCD monitor I haven't been able to test the DVI connector yet. I've heard good things about the Leadtek card, too, so you'll probably be okay going with either one of them. BTW the Visiontek Ti500 doesn't come with any extra software, only the driver disc with nvidia demos, so that might sway you towards the Leadtek card.

Both cards will give you excellent performance at their stock 240/500 speed. I'm currently running my Visiontek card artifact free at 260/590.

Seems like a draw, either one will be good, it will probably end up being the one that is in stock when im ready to order next week. I'm curious though bfg 10k what sold you on the leadtek as opposed to others?

It has a ton of features and it's also one of the cheapest Ti500s from the bunch.

Also everyone is praising its' 2D image quality and FiringSquad even mentioned that the quality was better than Matrox's.

Neither, really. The Gainward Cardexpert Ti550 and the Asus V8200 are better.

Another review of several Geforce3 Ti cards : Tom's Hardware Linky

If you don't feel like reading the whole review ....

"Leadtek
If there were a prize for "most elegant card," Leadtek's WinFast cards would win it, hands down. Yet the GF3 Ti boards do not have to rely on their good looks alone - their feature set makes them a good choice, as well.

Visiontek
The US-based company was among the first to ship Titanium-based cards. The Xtasy boards performed as expected, but were otherwise unremarkable during testing. "

And FiringSquad's review :
Also worth noting here is that Visiontek is contracted to produce all of Nvidias reference cards ...FiringSquad Linky

"Since entering the consumer segment, VisionTek has enjoyed considerable success. As the sole supplier of NVIDIA's reference cards, VisionTek has access to NVIDIA's latest products before its competitors."

"Right now, VisionTek is excelling in all these areas, and as result their products are among the best sellers on the market. With their Xtasy lineup, VisionTek builds on this success. Sure, there are Titanium products out there with more features, but are they backed up by a lifetime warranty? If NVIDIA trusts them with their reference boards, surely you can too.

It's for this reason that we wouldn't hesitate to recommend a VisionTek product to the gamer that wants a good card but doesn't want to spend a lot of money in the process. With many of NVIDIA's partners skimping on higher quality components (and as a result, suffering from inferior visual quality) to keep costs down, it's refreshing to see a company such as VisionTek that combines solid build quality at an attractive price point. Sure, it may not be the cheapest graphics card on the market, or the most feature-packed, but the brand name VisionTek has chosen for its Titanium lineup still fits well: Xtasy!"

[shameless plug]

GDog, if you want to go for the VisionTek XTasy Ti500 I'm thinking of selling mine for $260, shipped. It's only 2 weeks old, it's got the S-Video and DVI, and is one bad mutha! I decided to go for the Radeon8500 instead since I want dual-display support. PM me if you're interested and we'll hash out the details.

I would have to vouch for Visiontek as well. Was skeptical myself 'cause I've never heard of them, but after buying about 5-6 cards in the GeForce family, I am very taken with their quality and performance. They're solid cards.
