You know, somehow I don't get the impression VisionTek likes nVidia much.
First they were destroying nVidia's little butterfly character, now their mocking the FX

Well from what I can gather Nvidia stuck the knife in Visiontek so turnabout is fair play, and Nvidia certainly left themselves open with the GF FX.

They had it on their site for a month or two... they were basically having ATi's characters destroying nVidia's little butterfly and mocking their upcoming products via it.

This seems to have replaced the butterfly video.

well this is all well and good (and funny), but i haven't seen any new visiontek cards in a while. i have my doubts about them ever coming back. Seems that they are all bark and no bite, but i wouldn't mind being proved wrong.

I remember when S3 aquired Diamond Multimedia following the ill-conceived lead of 3dfx. They subsquently launched the ill-fated Savage2000 under the name Viper II with the box art declaring "Who said anything about playing fair?". I suspected that was not just there for the benefit of buyers but as a jab to NVIDIA because the popular "Viper" name had previously been associated with their NVIDIA based cards. But it turned out the joke was on them when it stank on ice.

VisionTek mocking nVidia again...

Heck, I wouldn't buy anything from a company with such a 'website' LOL , no matter which chips they use. With nVidia-basd cards, our best bet is to get nVidia reference cards (they're hard to find, though), or Creative cards that are just as good in terms of 2D quality (at least better than Sapphire Radeons, that's for sure).

It would be funnier if Visiontek was actually selling ATi cards. As it is, I have no proof that they aren't producing George Foreman grills now instead of graphics cards.

Really makes you want to RMA your GForce card to them doesn't it.

I think this "burning your bridges" style of bashing isn't going to help VisionTek at all. If in the future they need something from nVidia, they'll be screwed.

Especially considering now it seems that most manufactures will soon be producing Nvidia, and ATI cards, I mean that would be AWESOME b/c then whoever has the top of the line card(nvidia or ATI), you can buy it from the manufacturer of your personal choice.

Visiontek is obviously run by a group of incompetent monkeys and it is not surprising they went bankrupt and are now using this lame technique as their only claim to noteriety.

The above was silly obviously, but it is equally obvious that Visiontek is full of idiots if they think this is a good idea. It will without a doubt come back to haunt them, but most likely they are not a real company anymore, and the "owner" is simply venting his frustration at having his company collapse, and not being able to milk money out of Nvidia with their lawsuit.

My system is loud as heck, with 3 case fans, a 7000rpm proc. fan and an 80mm fan on the Kyro, I think I can judge sound levels.

Every OEM has total control over what cooling solution they use, and it won't be the reference cooler you're hearing in the reviews. Gainward has already announced that their cooler will be much quieter. Evan Lieb is doing a GF FX round-up shortly, and has received indepenent confirmation from each OEM that their cooling will be MUCH quieter than the reference cooler. I also have a report from BFG that that they too have a different cooling solution.
