Does vista has somekind of file which can be saved after vista is activated and there is no need to activate it again after the reinstall .
After I download all the updates, all the drivers, and get everything set up just the way I like; I run Norton Ghost. I never have to reactivate...well, that is until I install some new hardware and Windows screams "DANGER! DANGER BILL GATESERSON!"
I also use Norton Gjhost on my XP System ... works excellent ... you can also
use Acronis TruImage as some folks find it easier to use ... it should give the
same results .. no reactivation needed unless you have made major hardware changes
since the image was created
As soon as I got Vista all loaded up with all desired software and tweaks, I immediately cloned the HDD to another using Acronis TrueImage 10 - and then tested the reserve drive by booting from it. Perfecto!
I clone all my drives every week on three systems.
Every week is somewhat overkill. Once every week or two, I copy my personal data files over to
a backup drive. As to making an image, I do that about every 3 months or whenever I make a major
change, such as installing a new program.
