I want to stay on topic as to my question. I didn't want to get into this, but here goes.
I copy out of the cache for four reasons:
1) It's actually easier and faster for images. I right click images in new tabs (between 20-30) at rapid speed, without looking at them, allow them to download and while staying in the current tab, right click, close all other tabs then open up another round of tabs. I do this repeatedly for sometimes thousands of jpegs. I retrieve these in mass from the cache by selecting them and copying them to a folder. I can sort the cache by file type and by size, thus eliminating the smaller thumbnails. The file names have a [1] or a [2] added to them. I use a free program called XP explorer which lets me rename them all as a grouping or simply delete the [1]'s with one stroke. The [1] leads to my second reason.
2) The quality of the jpeg when you right click and save it is lacking in most instances. When I right click and save jpegs to the same folder where I also copy them out directly (being that the ie cache ones have the [1] added to the file name they save next to the their right click saved counter-part jpeg). The right click saved jpegs are almost always missing data in that they are compressed more, the image is squished in the middle. When you preview or slide show through and compare them, the files that were copied out of the cache (the ones with the [1] added to their file name will appear to stretch and in fact reveal lost information. Depending on the size and quality of the jpeg when you right click and save them in IE it optically distorts the picture in the middle. Try it and you will see for yourself. I discovered this anomaly many years ago in all versions of IE.
3) You can copy picture images (gifs, jpegs, pngs etc...) from websites that have "right-click saving" disabled.
4) You can copy video files that don't let you "save target" them. You can copy them from the cache and rename the extension to make them playable i.e. You Tube videos.
