Before I start, let me just say that I do know that most drivers are in horrible shape at the moment. I'm just trying to confirm that it is a driver problem and not a problem with my system in particular.
I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit. When I did the initial installation (clean install), I told Vista to use the Intel SATA drivers for the ICH8R chip. Everything installed well, but it was VERY slow and sluggish. So I wiped it out and installed again this time using the native AHCI SATA drivers on the Vista DVD. This time everything installed speedily and was mostly smooth.
Once Windows was in, I ran the Intel setup for the chipset and everything worked. I then tried AGAIN to use the Intel SATA drivers and the same thing occurred. It installed, but the system was insanely slow.
Anyone else have a similar issue? Or is it just me? Hardware is listed in my sig.
