Other than for personal entertainment, there is no point in running a screen saver on a LCD. LCDs do not "burn in." LCD backlights have a finite life - so running a screensaver burns the CCF tube just as much as letting the regular image run.
For LCDs, the best solution is to turn it OFF after a determined number of minutes.

I notice WMPlayer sometimes leaves a process running even after I close it. If you use WMP, try setting the option of allow screensaver during playback, and see if that helps. Also use a pencil eraser on the battery contacts(mouse and cradle) of your MX1000. They sometimes get a little crud on them and make intermittent contact.

I don't have burn-in on my 4 years old vp191b, but it has horrible image retaining problem.
(ei. any static images remaining on the screen for at least 5 min takes about 1-2 hours to go away. Also, when I used to play WOW hardcore the GUI literally remained on the screen for days)
