nope not at all.
I can get it right now, and directly from the source

That doesn't mean I'm anxious to run it.
I'm going to let others have the pleasure first.
More 'testers' the better I say.

Sorry but I don't believe you.

And what you believe matters to me because ?

LOL

I'm actually more interested in 2008 server than sp1.
I'm thinking very seriously about replacing 2003, but not completely sold, there were a few bugs in the RC1 .

My Optiarc DVD drive was out of action with RC1. I reported that to MS so fingers crossed for a fix.

Thats good to hear must be the computer gods getting back at you.

"Thats good to hear must be the computer gods getting back at you."

Basically I see a bunch of thread crapping from you in that thread. I wont take any action, but if this trend continues you will get some time off from posting.

SP1 reduces the number of UAC (User Account Control) prompts from 4 to 1 when creating or renaming a folder at a protected location.

LONG overdue

lol, guess its time for pirates to find another way, love how they say "system stability", which should read "our profitability"
SP1 also includes updates that deal with two exploits we have seen, which can affect system stability for our customers.

? The OEM Bios exploit, which involves modifying system files and the BIOS of the motherboard to mimic a type of product activation performed on copies of Windows that are pre-installed by OEMs in the factory.

? The Grace Timer exploit, which attempts to reset the ?grace time? limit between installation and activation to something like the year 2099 in some cases

Juvenile much?

Anyway, in terms of the service pack, nice to see it's out soon. I don't have a problem waiting until mid March. I'll just uninstall the RC a few days before March's Patch Tuesday and start hitting the refresh button.

I spent a good couple hours trying to locate a complete list of the drivers that have a problem with the serrvice pack.
Has anyone found a complete list ?

Technet site is a pain to find what you need .

Good old DESQView. ALL modern OSes are crap compared to DESQView! Long live DESQView and QuarterDeck Systems!

OS/2 looked pretty neat, too (IBM gave me one of the first copies), but I could never get it to run on any of my PCs at the time.

I ran OS/2 on a IBM PS/2 computer - which I bought at a Senior Center Thrift Shop - ran like a charm!

My wife used it at 'work', for a couple of years, in a school district that was too poor to provide computers in every room - that, and an IBM dot-matrix printer and IBM VGA mono monitor - which I picked up at Goodwill and Savers, respectively...

LoL!

Actually, it was one of the most stable machines I ever owned!

The first OS/2 was very impressive. Especially compared to Windows 2.x at the time. But my office PC (a PS/2) didn't have enough memory, and OS/2 gave me a memory error on my home machine.

It turned out OS/2 was correct. That PC later turned out to have a failing 1MB memory module. Those modules were AWFULLY expensive at the time ($125 a module, as I recall).

Having installed Vista32 SP1 RC for over three weeks now on top of several updates from MS since then but now my lappy's screen saver stops working, saying "error trying to access it" or something in that effect. Note that the screen saver pre-test still works ok.
A small nuisance on my part but not sure how to get around it just yet.
Any idea?

Yes and only when it tries to access the picture folder.
I have the admin rights too.

Looks like 1800 is final and the RC Refresh 2 is the final RTM build after all, based on stuff I've been reading.

Agreed!

I am NOW convinced 'SP1 RC Refresh 2' = 'SP1 Final RTM'

6001.18000.080118-1840 is the Final version of SP1 - as confirmed by this AIK LINK for SP1 & Server 2008.

If you'll pardon the pun - the 'key' is '080118-1840'!

For those that are skeptical, CHECK OUT THIS SCREENIE of my Refresh 2 Reg.

Further proof can be found in:
  1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
...but I don't want to kill you with excitement!

I'm running x64 and I have the same rtm1840 version in my registry. The only place where it says "SP1 RC" is in the windows update list...

It's running great, that's what matters. I'll reinstall the sp1 when it's officially available, just to be 100% sure.
