Downloaded and installed no problems.
Anything good? problems resolved? enhancements?

Here
Thanks. I'm also interested in what the casual, non-enterprise user experiences. Sometimes the fixes/enhancements are in areas that most people don't use.

Me too! I don't see many if any enhancements or fixes for the average user.

Been looking for that too, but cant seem to find it. I though they said that they would have a easier slipstream method similar to xp.

But the only info ive found is on technet and essentially have to install vista, install sp2, re-seal machine and re-capture image.

My laptop won't boot after starting the SP2 install.

A black screen with white text is flashing:

"!! 0xc0000102 !! 2726/45802 (Journal.exe)"

I thought there was something wrong with it deleting some files that are actually needed. I haven't run it yet.

Can you open up your device manager through ''System" in the control panel? I cant after doing this, I have to go through "search" in order to get into my device manager.

After running windows recovery about 10 times, it finally boots again. Yay!!!

... now do I dare try installing SP2 again?

Installed sp2 on a new build on an amd 780g mb:

vista oem
sp1
sp1 vsp1cln.exe
sp2
sp2 Compcln.exe [not done yet]
mb drivers
1st ms update - ie8 and just a couple of updates completed the install. I love roll-ups.
adobe flash

And, of course, it would have been nonintuitive for ms to name the sp2 cleaner vsp2cln.exe

Seems to be ok. No antivirus (or anything else) installed yet.

i feel the OS is much snappier and more responsive than before after SP2. Apps open faster, and apparently i was reading it now uses less resources. sweet, guess this is the way it was meant to be on release but only time and experience could've allowed em to make it as efficient as it has become.

Vista has become a really effificent and top notch OS, glad i spent the cash for it.

Greytautumn, I got that same data is invalid when I tried to run the standalone installer. But I got it thru windows installer and it installed w/o a hitch. Vista 32 home prem.

Seems to be working well. Hope you get yours working. I have to say, I lost faith in microsoft when I got that data is invalid error msg with zero explanation when I doible-clicked the .exe file.

It says it'll allow you to record to blu ray, does this mean it will be able to play them without third party software as well?

vLite may get updated to support it soon. SP2 has the same limitation as SP1 insofar as "slipstreaming". The .WIM image must be booted into using ImageX (or equivalent) tools, apply the update, recaptured, so on and so forth. Or you can just wait until the fully integrated DVD ISO images start showing up on TechNet, MSDN, or other.

Well I updated this morning to sp2 and so far so good no problems are evident yet. I've not really done anything with the os so I can't tell you how things might have changed on my system.

Good question. I never ran the SP1 cleanup tool. The SP2 cleanup tool freed up over 2GB of space for me.

Is it safe to run the SP2 cleanup tool after you had SP2 installed for a while? I didn't know about it at the time I installed SP2.
