So I just purchased a few new pieces of hardware, and my current build is as follows:
New Stuff:
ASUS P5Q Motherboard
Intel Q9300 2.5 ghz
2x2 Corsair XMS2 DDR 800
Old Stuff:
ATI Radeon HD2900xt
250 GB Seagate SATA
500 GB Seagate SATA
Silverstone DA 750 PSU
That seems to be the relevant info...
Anyway, I'm booting up the installation disc for Vista x64. It goes far enough into the install process for me to see the mouse and the pretty background. Once the disc starts spinning again, however, the mouse freezes for a few seconds, and then the system resets. I never see the "Start Installation" button or whatever it is that starts the wizard.
I also put in a 32-bit Vista disc that I had around to see how far it got into that install process, and it made it to the Start Installation part with no issues. I do not think the problem is the x64 disc, however, as I tried that same disc in my laptop and it had no problems booting on that system.
So does anybody have a suggestion? I could concievably install Vista 32-bit right now, but I really would rather not do that since I've coughed up the price of 4 gigs of system RAM...
