that has nothing to do with what i posted. reading comprehension ftl
because its boring to have stir fry every night?
vitamins can provide some freedom
unless I eat spinach, I never seen to get enough iron. but I dont LOVE spinach, at all.
This logic is the sole reason the vitamin industry exists.they wont harm you and they very well might supplement that random vitamin/mineral(s) you are missing.
Are you sure I'm the one with the problem?that has nothing to do with what i posted. reading comprehension ftl
There was a story that said the scientist/chemist doing the iron calculations put the decimal point in the wrong place and the myth about spinach has been perpetuated since Popeye.Spinach isn't even the preferred source of iron. If you don't like it, eat mussels, oysters, beef, turkey, fish, beans, tofu, potato, broccoli, chickpeas, etc. All of those have more iron than spinach.
If you have a balanced diet, you probably don't need them.
I had some blood work done and my doctor said I had extremely low vitamin D, so she put me on a heavy supplement for five weeks, then recommended I take a multivitamin with vitamin D after that.
I think there are only some vitamins where the excess is flushed out (C being one).
A sure sign of Snake Oil is a quick fix to a problem you can't quantify.
This logic is the sole reason the vitamin industry exists.
Hell, it should be the industry slogan...
"They won't harm you and they may just help you!"
multis are ok, they wont harm you and they very well might supplement that random vitamin/mineral(s) you are missing. if the doc says you are low on something, good to focus on that too.
To be fair, you do need those metals, just very tiny amounts that you'll likely pick up in your daily diet. It's the minerals you have to watch. Many of the multi mineral pill manufacturers seem to a take a "the more metals, the better" approach throwing in metals no one needs.
That fish oil may not be as good for you as you think: http://mobile.nytimes.com/blogs/wel...-explores-whats-in-your-supplements/?referer=Take a men's vitamin and a fish oil capsule every day. I don't consider it a waist. For one, I don't eat right and two, my triglycerides are high.

It should help your HDL. Losing fat and improving your diet will go a long way to improving your tri's.Meh, NYTimes? PBS?! Not buying it. But will shall see this summer when I get another blood test and see if my triglycerides are under control.
Triglycerides are important to human life and are the main form of fat in the body. When you think of fat developing and being stored in your hips or belly, you're thinking of triglycerides.

There are many benefits to it still that the article really glosses over.
B vitamins (Riboflavin in particular) do some interesting things to your pee. High amounts of them make it look like you are whizzing Mountain Dew.
So at least it's interesting and expensive urine.
The issue is that the fish oil in a tablet isn't necessarily "good" fish oil. Fish oils are good due to their abundance of unsaturated fats. However, those unsaturated fats are also prone to oxidation (which gives contributes to that rancid fish smell). If a company wraps crappy fish oil in a tablet, you can't tell if you're getting crappy, oxidized oil or good stuff.Fish oil by itself isn't going to prevent heart attacks or heart disease. It's one tiny piece in a very complicated formula of risk factors. There are many benefits to it still that the article really glosses over.
A relative bought me some of that stuff. That fish oil may not be as good for you as you think: http://mobile.nytimes.com/blogs/wel...-explores-whats-in-your-supplements/?referer=
I swear by fish oil for the joint health boost it seems to provide.
I swear by fish oil for the joint health boost it seems to provide. I'm pushing 40 and do a lot of running. I really feel like fish oil keeps my joints in a lot better shape. I didn't notice much of a difference at all with Glucosamine/Chondriton. But I don't seem to have nearly as many aches/pains/cracks/pops in my knees, hands, wrists and feet than before I started taking it.
You do know that running puts a lot of stress on yourself, right. I just go on walks.
