I played the 360 demo of this at Best Buy sometime last year, I thought it was cute and interesting, but I didn't get enough time to play to really understand the game so my impression was "hummmm" I had no idea a PC port was in the works, I wanted a new game, had played GOW at a friends and it seemed kind of blah (didn't have much time with it though...) want COD 4 but I can wait till the price drops. SOF III isn't out till next week. I was looking at all the FPS's, and was thinking to myself I want to play something totally different.

$40 bucks isn't bad, I had read the 360 reviews and they all seemed to really like the game. So I decided to pick it up and give it a whirl, man oh man I really like the game.

for all the PC people or even Console people who don't know about the game I suggest you Google some reviews. Basically you have a farm, and try to make it appealing to Pinata animals. The reviewers seem to liken it to a cross between The Sims & Animal Crossing. I never played either but watched GF play both extensively. The graphics are top notch, very colorful with really cool animations for all the animals. They're very cartoonish and fit perfectly for the game. Sound is cartoony also, good music and funny sound effects. Very different from the FPS's I'm used to playing.

It has micro management going on, which is to be expected in a game like this, but it's not over done, keep the plants watered, make sure animals don't eat other animals you don't want them to. Help animals Romance so they can have babies. Stray baddies will wander on your farm and eat your animals and fruits, you can whack them with a stick and kill them. I sat and watched my Snake Pinata eat my Mouse Pinata. Only been playing today so I still have a long way to go, but I've already seem a dozen or so different animals. I find it very cool and relaxing to watch them scamper around, sleep, eat and just interact. The Fox saw some sort of Bat looking creature and howled and ran away.

It's Windows Live so you need an account to save anything, the accounts are free, not sure about On-Line, but the local Silver account doesn't cost. Not sure if this game has Multiplayer haven't dug in to it enough.

This game will get lost in the shuffle of new releases, doesn't help I haven't seen much about it even coming out. But it targets a much different crowd than a Crisys or SOF III. I love shooters, so far I'm loving this game though. A lot of people will be turned off by the kid like quality, but it's worth giving a chance, it seems pretty challenging and engaging. I wouldn't say it's hard, but you do have to stay on top of things so animals don't die and you can attract new breeds. The reviews I've read said it's good for about 30 hours of play, last game I played was Stranglehold which was 7-8 so this is a huge improvement. I don't know how much fun it wil be to me after a few more days of play. But as of right now I'm enjoying it much more than I ever expected. It is a port but the controls are simple, you don't even use the keyboard. I couldn't tell it was a port at all, a basic point and click game.

I recommend it for anyone with children, I don't see how any kid could not fall in love with it. And for me at least it definitely brought out my inner child.

8.5/10

VP is my fav 360 game, I had no idea the PC version was out already

Great game that many looked over when it came out due to be released right when Gears of War was and its art style many people just didn't pay any attention to it.

I had never played this game on 360 but was interested in it since I've heard about. I picked it up to on a $40 chance, and I must say that I enjoy it. It's easy fun and colorful.

It's Windows Live so you need an account to save anything,

That's quite obnoxious on MS' part, needing to use their online service to save a single-player PC game!? .... but at least they didn't make it Vista-only.

I'm planning to get a 360 for Mass Effect, so I'll probably just get the $20 360 version instead of the $40 PC version. (Spending $350 to save $20 )

I don't think you need to use the online service, you just have to create an account and I believe mine is totally local. My firewall didn't warm me of outgoing when I created it so I have to assume the online account would be for online play only. I don't really get the whole live thing is if you're not online playing.

*shrug* game is still fun, my animals seem to be eating each other, sucks but I suppose I can't expect mice and snakes to co-exist and be friends. I think my fox ate a bird, oh well. At least the animal info screen tells you who's gonna eat who

It is a great game for any gamer - a better game even yet for their girlfriends. Show your girlfriend how to play. She will never yell at you for playing videogames again.

What I can't seem to find out is if the PC version is a direct port or if they added more animals. Anyone know?

Since the Xbox has been out I've grown to detest MS. They take every chance they get to screw over Windows gamers to try to make the Xbox look good.

Didn't know they made a PC version. I have it for the 360 and think it's a lot of fun. Simple enough for kids to get into it a like it, but has a ton of depth for those that can and want to find it.

Can you beat the pinatas to death with sticks, or go all FPS on them? I might play that...

yeah you can beat your piniata w/a shovel, I think you can drown some of them, you can make pinata fight, you can make them eat each other sometimes (like a snake would eat a bunny or a mouse etc etc) theres these "evil" pinata that drop poison candy and if your pinata eats it they get sic, you can either heal your pinata or let it die.

You don't use a stick, you use a shovel. And yes, you can whack them to death. But instead of blood and gore, they turn into candies for the other pinatas to eat.

I have this game on 360 and after leveling up some, it can get a little tedious, especially planting and watering your plants. And the stupid bat just keeps on coming back no matter how many times you whack it to death.

Just have it eat a Jack-o-Lantern.

Great game, and like another said, great for the GF too, the more things you can find to do together that you like to do the better.
