The Vizio M Series Quantum 2019 is much better than the Vizio V Series 2019. The M Series has a local dimming feature that improves dark room performance and can get much brighter, which is great for a bright room. Finally, the M Series can deliver crisper motion thanks to its faster response time.

Depends...I'm definitely not an expert and I was researching for a different usage case than a TV and at a smaller side. But the brain things inside my head tell me that Vizio has shifted the "M" series towards the lower end in the last couple of iterations. Not the low end, but not solidly in the good value middle ground. Of course, that all depends on what you are looking for. One thing to watch for is bad local dimming. Many feel no local dimming is better than bad local dimming. I'm clearly parroting others, take that for what you will.

Old guy story.

When we got married, my in-laws gave us a 17" tube TV (don't recall it even having a remote) that cost more than this 50 inch monster. Adjusting for inflation that 17" TV cost almost $1400 in today's dollars.

Not as drastic but the "MASSIVE" 36" Toshiba Tube TV I bought after my first job out of college in 1998 would have cost $1275 today! Ha!

Heh...yeah, I think we paid $599 for the Sony Trinitron 25" CRT we bought in the mid-90's...and about that much for the Sony Trinitron 19" monitor I bought on sale in the late 90's when The Good Guys got out of the computer biz.
