Does running dpad on virtual xp and host vista give any boost in output? Anyone tried it? Is it considered cheating?
Just curious:beer:

Not quite sure what you mean ,running XP from within Vista?
If so I don't see why it should give any boost, but I've not tried it.

I can't imagine that you would get much if any benefit from running a CPU intensive program within a VM. The principle behind virtualization is to take many environments that do not utilize a lot of resources and put them on one box to more fully utilize the hardware. We run VMware ESX at work and we didn't virtualize our main Oracle database server because it runs with high enough CPU utilization that it really wouldn't benefit us much to virtualize it.
A project like DIMEs would benefit greatly from virtualization because it doesn't peg the CPU, it uses network and doesn't peg that either. So you could have multiple VMs doing dimes on a single box.
