Anyone who buys expensive alcohol for reasons other than showing off (to women) is stupid.

They all taste bad. Alcohol could never taste good. You can form a positive association psychologically, but the fact remains, your body hates it.

That said... I buy gallons of traveler's vodka, the stuff that comes in 1.5liter jugs for $8

Made in USA bitchez.

Hmm I've had good drinks before... Now most stuff I have had tasted like junk but yeah.
Had some high proof things mixed together turned a color that was definitely unnatural but was really good, and ridiculously strong. Probably would be considered a girly drink since it with how it tasted I would have had no clue how strong it actually was without watching it be made.

I would not buy or drink: Grey Goose, Absolut - these are worst possible vodkas.
Gordon's is cheap and pretty good.

Recently, vodka made in Belarus is very good.

Also, need to know how to drink vodka. It's not good to mix with carbonated water, like ginger ale, 7Up...etc.
I'm not even talking about Coca Cola - which is a good Cleaning Solution but not a drink, let's say, does anyone drink Windex or Clorox?

It's not good to mix vodka vith other sweet drinks.
Best is to drink straight and to eat something, caviar, perhaps?

Wow, the amount of bollocks in this post and in this thread in general is astounding. You guys can go ahead and buy your cheap vodka and enjoy dealing with that cheap vodka aftertaste. There is indeed a difference between the crap on the bottom shelf and the better vodkas towards the top. As has been stated a couple of times in the thread a good vodka should have almost no taste at all to it and go down smoothly. I've drank vodkas mixed and I've drank them straight. Personally I'm a fan of Tito's &
Imperia.

Wrong...how body reacts to alcohol? depends in how much is consumed.

Ever heard about Underberg:

It contains 80% of alcohol

There are many tinctures that contains alcohol and is a medicine.

Another thing about alcohol vs drug: After drinking alcohol, braincells does rebuild itself, while after smoking pot or taking other drugs - braincells are dead forever....

Say wut?

Back on topic, vodka being a neutral spirit is less affected by distilling and filtering methods. So, when an ingredient is not the defining characteristic of a product, I tend to default to my Scandinavian heritage because, you know, we do everything better. Hence, Ketel One

That said, my preferred method of drinking Vodka is Russian. Ice cold shot with fresh ground pepper on top, followed with a good caviar.

Uhhh....no. Just....no. You are either under-age or just don't drink much.

There may be an argument for Vodka, but anything aged is subject to massive quality swings.

There are massive differences in un-aged (silver) tequila.

Are you telling me that there is no difference between a $50+ bottle of Cab V. something that comes out of a box?

LOL.

lol, nothing could be farther from the truth. Cannabis DOES NOT kill brain cells, go ahead and link me to that study they performed on monkeys decades ago where the monkeys had brain cells die..........because they ran out of oxygen.. They were pumped so full of THC smoke that they simply had no air in their system.

If you consider pot a drug then why not alcohol or coffee, or soda or tobacco? Its insane the hypocrisy the media is making you live in, not to mention the stupidity.

Pot is good and natural and is great for depression (i should know), alcohol sucks and kills your liver and brain cells.

Also, what do you define as "other drugs" im dieing (apparently my brain cells are too) to know.

Nah, He's right. Alcohol tastes like crap but it's just the best stuff in the world for getting you drunk. Fine (expensive) booze tastes different from cheap booze to be sure but it all tastes like crap just differently crappy.

This argument is old....it tastes like "crap" to teenagers, or people who dont really drink.

Taste is subjective, so projecting your experience on others is natural, but please don't pretend like it is reality.

Alcohol, coffee, foods from different cultures we are not raised with....it will all taste like "crap" at first, because we have not acquired a taste for it.

If your argument is that anything we have to acquire a taste for tastes bad, then that is pretty much anything except breast milk. Which ironically, none of us would drink now......

Isn't Vodka just the best way to drink and avoid a hangover?

I don't necessarily buy the cheapest $%& on the shelf, but you definitely don't get your money's worth when it comes to expensive Vodka even for absolut. Grey Goose is just totally throwing out money. I like to try different makers, since they all taste a little different, but there is nothing amazing about any Vodka I've ever tried.

Some of my favorites have been rather cheap, like luksusowa. Costs about the same as Svedka but actually has a little smoothness.

The more vodka is distilled, the more toxic is for your body....

Uh, kind of the opposite. The darker the alcohol generally the worse my hangovers. Personal experience. If you are talking like, it absorbs too fast or something, beer is king in that category because of the carbonation and low ABV%. Straight vodka isn't likely to cause a hangover, and if you mix it well then you are in charge of how fast it absorbs by how strong you mix it etc.

I drink Ketel One. It's usually about $28 for a 1.75L at Costco.

If I want something cheaper that doesn't taste like rubbing alcohol I go for Svedka.

True. People wouldn't add it to food if it didn't taste good. Bannas Foster, Crepes Suzette, Beef Burgundy, Coq au Vin, Christmas Pudding, Beer Batter, good fruitcakes, etc.

Another vote here for Stoli. Personally, I like my vodka to have a little character to it, so I'm not a big fan of the ultra-filtered, tasteless brands.

Here in Columbus, we have a small batch distillery that makes a vodka from homegrown Ohio red wheat called OYO. It has a very distinct flavor that I really enjoy.
http://www.middlewestspirits.com

They also make an awesome small-batch whiskey, but that's a whole other topic....

I've been a fan of Tito's for a few years now...only recently have we started seeing it in other states. (Our last trip to Vegas - a few bars were carrying it, but the "standard" tended to be Ketel One)

People can rage and debate this all day long but in the end it's personal preference. Then again, some people think the cheap blended 1.75L for $10 whiskey is as good as the $70 single malt scotch whiskey are as dumb as the idiots saying the $8 vodka is as good as the expensive stuff. Things are priced at a premium for a reason. (Normally, anyway)

This is very wrong. Distillation removes all sorts of harmful by-products such as: iso-propyl alcohol, Acetals, formic acid, Ethyl acetate and formate, Ethyl butyrate, Ethyl iso-valerate, Iso-amyl acetate, Iso-amyl iso-valerate, Terpenes.

For myself, I like Vox but agree that Tito's is very good and I tend to buy it most often.
