Russian Standard.
This guy gets it, although I am a big fan of Tito's Vodka. It's really really good stuff and I usually pick between Tito's or Russian Standard.

FWIW there was an expose on TV a few years ago. Blind tests with Vodka showed that people had no idea what they were drinking. The cheap stuff was as good as the expensive and visa-versa.
Sort of makes you wonder why the bottom quality ones don't just filter their stuff better. $1 worth of filtering would make it taste so much better.they had a vodka taste test oh mythbusters once with a pro in as a taste tester. they had 3-4 types from dirt cheap to expensive and refiltered all at several different amounts. As you got to the multi-filter attempts the tester couldn't tell the top from the bottom brand.

tito's is on sale down the street from me - $25 for 1.75L. looks like 1 for me, 1 for my vodka snob father
The Costco Kirkland vodka is basically grey goose cloned. $25 ish for a 1.75. Very smooth possibly better than goose honestly

I agreevodka snobbery is ridiculous. most vodka is distilled by ADM and conagra. all assholes like puff daddy do is run it through a massive brita filter a couple times. and then sell it for $40. the fact that people pay as much for vodka as for aged spirits is mass stupidity. and if you're just mixing the heck out of it might as well get everclear and just use half as much.
if i buy vodka, i usually i buy tito's because it's local.
Just going to take a stab in the dark and guess that all you've ever really tasted is grey goose and costco kirkland.

Zin, a pure hearts cut of the distillate from a very clean, cool fermentation with lager yeast, or a similar approach, usually will not result in a headache. Often, it's the lower end fusels or other impurities that cause headaches. It's EtOH dudes. that is fucking it. what the hell do you expect?

Vodka snobs are funny. They probably don't even realize that the original vodka, samogen, looks nothing like the current crop of vodka, and certainly is not this clear, "pure" spirit, and is actually more similar to whiskey or mead.
The current standard was adopted at the turn of the 20th century, and pretty much ignores the long cultural history of traditional of what was once samogen.
