Vodoo 5 5500 for $139!!!

I know that 3dfx will cease to exist and that the driver support is gonna be lacking, but for less than $140 is a GREAT price.

Mwave is a pretty decent. I order a motherboard from them once and can't get it to work, they have their own support tech there and they will help you trouble shoot over the phone. Good customer service.

No offense, but if you go w/ Voodoo, you will not only lack driver support, but tech support and warranty. What if it chokes after a couple of months?

if it chokes than invidia is going to pick it up you just hide and watch. The V5 card blows the radeon out of the water.

voodoo will still be less trouble. it works with my games fine. if i could get it for $100, i'd buy it. but i'm still happy with my riva 128. my boss got that gainward g2mx card from compusa monday and took it back yesterday...

I wouldn't say the V5 blows the Radeon out of the water, but it does rule it in 16-bit, and their 2D image quality is pretty much even, both being superior to nVidia. And despite all the B.S. that people gave 3dfx over the last couple years, their cards remained the most compatible with all games. Neither ATI nor nVidia can come close to 3dfx' track record of compatibility. The V5's FSAA is tops too. If you're a 'sim player, there is no better card for you.

I just checked out all the links and they are OEM.
The mwave one looks like a boxed (whatever "white box" means).
Say, which would you guys rather go for:
$91 Geforce MX with Video Out or $84.99 ATI Radeon 32MB DDR or $94.99 Geforce 256 w/ TV-out?
newegg has 'em at those prices and video-out would be nice to watch DVD ...
I'd love to get the Voodoo if it had video-out but w/ FSAA & 64MB, that is a HOT deal for
gamers out there...

The irony with Voodoo is that most likely you will be BETTER off with a white box from some third party instead of a retail 3dfx unit. nVidia isn't going to give squat for support on VooDoo retail box products, other than "maybe" some kind of trade in offer or purchased supported. They went to a LOT of trouble to structure the deal so they ended up without board product support. OTOH the third party boards should still have full manufacturers warranties, maybe just a year is typical, but way better than nothing. OEM product of course has whatever support the selling dealer is willing to give.

A lot of voodoo product has to be setting in warehouses right now, and thats the major dumping I am waiting to see.

I don't consider myself much of a gamer, ...........but I was in CompUSA today and they had one of the flight simulator games playing on a demo set w/a force-feedback joystick,......I really had a good time playing w/that one ...!

My point being, ........... isn't the 3DFX Voodo5 5500 about the best card available for this type of game/program ....???

In my own experience , voodoo run faster on the sim game, but on Nvida card, the color is a lot richer than voodoo card.. this is just my own observation ..
