With a spiffy deal like SR, you shouldn't have to go to work...

ttown and mm60 I just sent along a suggestion email about those improvements to BuildItBetter@sunrocket.com. I'd suggest you do it as well so they will have some extra incentive.

BTW, has anyone else gotten the msg indicator light working on their unidens?

Mine just stays on all the time right now. Support told me they "are working on the issue". They couldn't give me any idea of when it would be fixed.

My message indicator light (on the unidens) appears to be working. Don't know how LONG it takes to turn on, but it does come on at some point when there are messages, and goes out at some point when there are not.

I did program the voicemail number into it. (0,0)

I programmed the voicemail number, but I don't get any indicator. Left a voicemail last night and still no indicator this afternoon...

There is a message indicator light on the top left hand corner of the Uniden phones that came with the SunRocket deal.

Wow. I just checked my email and SR has already replied to the suggestions I sent them. Here's the reply they sent me last night...
Dear MrNutz,

Thank you so much for writing. Your suggestion is a great one, and we will
investigate it further. We do have a feature called "fail-over" on our
development wish list. This feature would provide the functionality you
describe in the event of a power outage. Another option for your friends
(and you!) is a battery back-up for your modem.

We are expanding our service greatly over the next few months. If you'd
like us to notify you when new areas are available, enter the area code and
phone number into our "Check Availability" section, and then enter your
email address. We do send an email out to interested prospects when an area
becomes available.

Thanks for referring us to your friends. We are truly appreciative of your
support.

Sincerely,
Christina Fleming

Cool! "fail-over" sounds like what I was talking about.... But, I hope they were refering to mm60s feature too. I like that idea quite a bit, actually. I even tried automating the process in html. Kind of a "one-click (on my local machine) turn in on/off" idea - eventually becoming a scheduled task so that it just happens.
I have 2 html code segments that accomplish the task of logging in and turning on simple-call-forwarding, but I ran into the roadblock of having SR's log-in process take me away to the member home-page before my second html segment can run I asked a question in the software forum if there's any work-around to what I want to do, but no replys yet. I get the feeling that automating the process with a script may be a big hassle, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. Having it integrated with SR's user settings stuff would be better.

I included mm60s request in my email too. I think a script would be the easiest/most fail-safe option for what you are trying to accomplish. Well, until SR automates it...

My voice mail indictator is working now. All day Thursday and most of the day Friday, the light was just blinking, and I could not get it to turn off. Friday evening the light went off by itself. I left myself a VM and the light came on. Deleted the VM and the light went off. So I think I'm good with VM now.

If they could just get my caller id name (both inbound and outbound) issue resolved, I'd be all set.

Would you believe that I had speculated that there was some kind of connector under that?
Not only that, but it came on for the first time right after you answered my ??
Someone had just left a message a few min. before and when I retrieved it, the light went off.
Functionality I never even knew I had.
After you jogged my memory, I vaguely remembered that I had read about the light in the booklet.

I have new problem. I don't hear dial tone after the phone has been idle for some time. Same time, the voice light goes off. I called customer service, and customer rep. asked to me to unplug gizmo power and plug it back. It works but this problem is recurring.

Right now, my gizmo is connected behind the router. Router is directly connected to cable modem (comcast). If I connect the gizmo to cable model directly, there is no voice-voip or internet.

I called customer service again and it told me that I need firmware upgrade.
I don't know if it will fix it permanently.

Any suggestions????

Thanks

How long did it take you guys to receive your shipment from SR? I ordered 12 days ago with express shipping (boy was that a waste of money) and it's still not here. I called after a week and the SR support guy said he couldn't track it. I'm calling again on Monday, this is pissing me off...:|

Real waste of money. I ordered mine on a Friday with standard shipping and received it on the following Monday.
Well, I haven't even been charged yet. SO I'm going to call again tomorrow and tell them I'm not paying for Express shipping if it's going to take weeks for it to get here. :|
SR still has no idea what's going on with my order. Last CSR I spoke to "elevated my case" and said to call back "in a few days for an update." I emailed their Cheif Marketing Officer whose name/email was attached to my welcome email, who responded a couple days later personally (nice) to state their director of CS would call me that day (no call 24 hours later). This is getting ridiculous, but I'm not giving up!
If anyone cares, I spoke to the head of their CS department on Thursday--somehow my order was lost. They got it shipped out overnight, and I set up the system yesterday--behind the router for now.

I made a 45 minute call to my parents to test it out. Voice quality was about on par with cellphone, which is fine by me. My father said he heard some "clipping" when my voice was loud (was yelling at the cat who was attacking my feet), and my mom mentioned some echo, but we traced that down to the phone she was using. All in all, I'm pleased.

The phones are very nice and don't interfere with my wireless network. I emailed SR my phonebill and submitted a change of number request--can't wait to get incoming calls and my number ported over. Hopefully it'll come in before next month, since I'm moving.

I'm excited about the upcoming features and can't wait to start using SR as my main phone!

  • What Gizmo firmware version are you using now?
  • Is it the newest Gizmo firmware version out there?
  • Is that the best Gizmo firmware version you've tried so far?
Comments (echos/features/Qos)?

Day 31

I'm DONE! No land line, my old phone number is with Sunrocket. Disconnected the outside line, all phones ring fine (I have ELEVEN phones in the house!)

One phone jack for some reason, would not work, even when I opened it up and jiggled the lines - (it worked with the land line). I simply put the second Uniden wireless line there to replace the old phone.

So, everything is cool. I downloaded a bunch of bittorent files, and could still make calls with the gizmo in charge (it did the QOS stuff fine).

If I have ANY complaint, it is when I make an outgoing call, it sometimes takes quite a while to start ringing the called line (like 15 seconds), but it works.

Oh, and the fact that the phone company sent me a bill for MARCH even though I'm now disconnected - but that isn't sunrocket's fault.

This is COOL!

I just noticed that I haven't been charged for the service. I gave them my cc info back in the middle of Feb and received my equipment already. It's up and running and incoming calls are working as well. But no charge to my cc. Anyone else notice this? I have to wait till 8am EST to call them to ask wtf is going on. I'd hate for a $200 charge to show up unexpectedly.

yeah, I've noticed this too. Except, substitue 15 seconds w/ 60 It's odd though, it was happening to certain numbers. I'd hang up and try another number, worked fine. Go back to the one I was having problems with... and it'd hang for nearly a minute.

But it's only happened once where it was that long. I ported the number anyway and we'll see if I'll regret it.

How long did it take for people that ported your number from a land line to have everything ironed out (number moved, land-line disconnected)?

I just called qwest to bitch about my latest incorrect billing, and the dude says "I notice you'll be disconnected on the 21st..."
So I have 2 more weeks of qwest. I understand qwest not being in a hurry to lose a customer, but it just seems like this is an un-neccessarily long time.
The worst part is that the 21st is in my next-after-this-current billing period, so chances are I'll get to give qwest one more phone call before my bill is correct ($0).
(on-going billing probs for the last 5 months, if you've missed my previous rants)

1) Length of time to switch land line - as long as the phone company can make it. Sunrocket said on Feb 8 "it can take up to 20 days" - sure enough, it was Feb 28th.

2) when do they charge? my charge card appeared with the charge about 10 days after i received the gizmo. and i did get an email the same day the charge appeared.

I have been using Sunrocket for a week or so now, and my only complaint is I am getting a click/pop sounds every 3-10 seconds... its random, not really symmetrical... but it IS consistent. I have tried w/ the gizmo both in front of and behind the router, and the CSR had me change some dynamic bandwidth reservation, but neither helped. Anyone else have this problem or an idea on how to fix it. TIA!!

tknodav1 - I've noticed the same "click/pop" sounds sometimes. Kind of annoying, but they aren't very loud at all. And I've found if I just hang up, and start over, many times they are gone. I listen for a second when I first pickup the phone. If the sounds are there, I hangup and listen again and they're usually gone.
