I have tried both in front and behind the my Linksys WRT54G flashed with Alchemy.
I had hoped that MAYBE putting it in front of my router would help some of the choppiness and occassional bad echoes, but it didn't make a bit of differece. These things can happen when there is zero traffic on my network. Although, putting it in front of my router amazingly didn't have much impact at all on my 4Mbps download speeds when the phone is not in use, I am going to put it back behind the router since it apparently doesn't matter.

My gizmo firmware was upgrade to 4.54 the other day, and it seems to have gotten rid of some soft static, but the echos and choppy issues still reside. I had hoped it would be the cure-all once they agreed to upgrade my Gizmo. Oh Well.

Anyone have any cures for those problems?

Where are you finding 3 cordless phones? I still see only two...certainly given that I just signed up and received the 2 phone deal I'd be interested in seeing if I could leverage a third phone...

I'd appreciate some feedback, if anyone is willing. What would I gain by canceling and signing up again? I have the Signature Plan now, and the unlimited Canada calling is important to me...

Well, if you cancelled you could use one of those newer promo codes and try for more free phones but cancelling might just cause more problems. I would say stick with it, you have the hardware, things are in motion. I am guessing they haven't billed you still, right?

Got billed for $24.90. And, yes, cancelling would cause more problems as I'd lose my carefully selected phone numbers.

I really want the annual plan at $199 becuase of the cost savings. I think my best bet is to whine to SR as much as possible about *bait & switch*, not to mention the post-purchase promises made not kept.

OKAY - I am pleased to report that SR made good on both the $199 rate AND sent me my 2 phones.

I am really pleased with the service. Crystal clear sound, no echo, nice range on the cordless phones, no interference with my Wifi.

Really, I could not be happier...

ttown - Thanx. I'll go check that at home. A few calls dropped and I can't tell if its me or this one person's cell phone that I am usually talking to.

Jlensbo - After hearing that I wouldn't mind having some problems myself. Enjoy the free month!

uurda - It amazes me that though there have been some problems talked about in this thread, not only is SunRocket fixing them but then also going to extra yard to make up for them. So, good for you for not backing down.

I think the 3 phones is for people that got a referral from an existing customer.
I don't think it has been confirmed that a new customer gets a 3rd phone, in addition to the 2 phones in "the deal".
About a week ago, existing members got an email announcing the "Rewards Program" -- letting people know that if a new customer uses thier phone-number as a promo-code, the new customer will get the 2-phone deal....
BUT... there was also this sentence:
"Anyone you refer to SunRocket will receive a great, limited-time free phone offer, and you will qualify for RocketRewardsSM points..."

A seperate sentence said: "Anyone you refer will receive a free Uniden cordless phone system with 2 handsets!"

So.... is the first sentence referring to the second sentence? Or are they 2 seperate deals, with the first one being a limited-time bonus deal while they introduce the Rewards Program??

In any case, you'd need to be referred to have any hope of a 3rd phone. But even then, it's up for interpretation....

If I can be of ANY help to anyone, please let me know via PM....

Not sure about 3 phones as part of the promotion. Has anyone received a package via a user referral as of yet to confirm?

If you look at this sentence in the "REFER A FRIEND" section, it appears to be for 3 phones:

PLUS, your friend will receive a free
Uniden Cordless Phone System with two extra handsets!

A Phone System (presumably the base phone system) with two EXTRA handsets.

I called Sunrocket to inquire about that particular promotion. The CS rep looked at the wording of that section and said "You are right. This is for 3 phones. Anybody you sign up gets a 3 phone deal." I since spoke with another CS who insists that it is for 2 phones only, that the wording was just poor. So, who knows. I referred two more people since this promotion started, so when they get their packages we'll know for sure.

Who can have 4Mbps up at home? :Q

Of course mine is average cable modem speed: 4Mbps down and 384kbps up

Go here, register on the site, and check your upload speed, you may not be getting what you need (min of 100kbps up) on a reliable basis. Could be a cable/DSL modem or ISP prob if not. If your Quality of Service (QOS) score is not in the 80's at least, you're going to have probs, no matter what you're getting speedwise.

Are you on cable, and if so, what cable modem do you have and do you have to reload web pages on a regular basis? I just recently had to replace an old Toshiba PCX1000 with a Motorola SB5100 cuz it started tossing packets and losing block sync after the 4mb upgrade in the ATL area. Not the modem's fault but it was the only way to fix the prob, fortunately Comcast agreed to credit me a month's service for the purchase. The symptoms you describe were exactly what I saw with SR due to packet loss sending VOIP data.

I have frequented that site at the request of Sunrocket..
Most every time I did a QOS test I was around 97%. It says I can support 4 VOIP connections.
I have Comcast cable using a Linksys cable modem.

My ISP was down for about an hour today, so obviously no phone service, but when I called my number with my cellphone expecting to be connected to my voicemail, instead I got an out of service tone.

I tried this several times.

My voicemail does pickup when the phone is in service and the line is busy.

Shouldn't it also pick up when the line is down? (or am I asking too much)?

I think that's one of the other common complaints about SR - when your net connection goes down, the calls don't rollover.

You should know better than to solicit referrals. You'll end up getting this thread locked.

Yeah, I know. But it really is a mutual benifit. I get 25 points, and the other guy gets a free hand set. Both win!

Is it wrong if both win?

To me it's not a big deal. Not to the mods though. I just mentioned it because I don't want this thread to get locked.

I got an idea on how to test the theory--I put in my phone number in the promo code section and I got the exact same promo ad that I get if I put in a regular code. So no, I now do not believe that they get anything more than the box with the two handsets. In fact, I don't think that an extra box with an extra handset will even fit in that cute SR shipping box. It is a cute box... :lips:

If it was really 3 handsets you can be sure they'd be raving "Whoa, you get a cool Uniden 2.4 Ghz cordless phone system with THREE handsets!" They would not be saying it's a Uniden phone system with TWO extra handsets. When you really think about it that way you see that it's wishful thinking. People love those phones so much they are starting to hallucinate stuff into SR's adspeak. In fact I started feeling really guilty that the 3 people I referred didn't get an extra handset. (Besides feeling pretty stupid for not waiting a little before running to advertise it to everybody. I also installed a cable modem for 2 of them as well... Too bad I didn't get anything for it... Drat...):laugh::disgust::brokenheart:

Thank you! But my second telephone number (302-XXX-XXXX) that I requested to be ported over as a signature number has not yet been done (I had two phone lines).

Hey, you still got a $25 referral fee out of it, not too shabby.

I had noticed a problem with international calling (echoes) and mentioned it to SR customer service. The CS rep asked for the actual phone number with which the echo problem occured and promised an adjustment. I don't know what they did, but I made 5 international calls since (to Germany, Greece and the UK) and couldn't be happier with the quality. Crystal-clear is an understatement. So, if you experience echoes or choppiness, don't hesitate to contact SR and tell them about it. It helped here and my SR experience has been nothing but a positive one.

I wish SR would tweak their presence a little bit. When I first looked into VOIP for my home I was told that my area isn't available for a Sunrocket number. I was even told by a representative that I can't get service with SR. So, I signed up with Broadvox instead. Just by pure luck I found that I could get a Sunrocket number after all. I plugged in the temporary exchange number I was given by Broadvox into Sunrocket's web "Availability" page and, presto, service was available to me. Porting my regular existing Verizon number proved to be no problem. I wonder how many customers Sunrocket has lost to other broadband providers by the negative availability notification when in fact a local number is readily available and porting of the existing number is no problem as well.

Hehe, I didn't really mean I didn't get ANYTHING for it--I meant from SR's side-that they didn't give me anything for giving them 3 customers. Of course I did it because I wanted to help those 3 recipients and I do have the satisfaction of being able to improve their lives. There is no reward greater than that. But still it would be nice to get an appreciation gift from SR...

Well I didn't get anything yet, but we'll see...

Regarding the echoes, that is the only bad thing that I noticed so far--my aunt in NY (I'm in NJ) often gets an echo of herself on most calls, and a couple of other people told me they are hearing themselves. I don't hear any of it though. So I suspected that maybe SR can do something about it--maybe it's the system that calls those numbers and they can tweak something...

Tek.

Hmm...don't know if it matters but I have been calling NJ (near princeton) and they have not been experiencing any echoes. As far as echoes go would that be a problem from you or from the receiver of the call?
