older version (4.50) seems still ok on this.

any idea?
I'd bet that a call to SR tech support telling them that you don't want the port blocked --and it's really important to you -- you could probably get a tech to make your gizmo forward port 80. It is either configurable on their end, OR, you could push that they "down-grade" you to the prior firmware version.
Alternatively, you could put the gizmo behind your router, in parallel with your web-server -- but then you stand the chance of having quality suffer, depending on what all you got running (like filesharing, especially)

I called SR tech support, tried to explain my situation: I have 4 entries in the port forwarding section to forward ALL ports to my router expect those reserved ports (1 ~ 65536, expect 68, 16384-16399,5060, I noticed 4.54 got one more number in the reserved ports list: 80), I got 4.54 firmware upgraded by SR about one month ago and port 80 was working fine and it stopped working until last weekend, my brother is still using older version 4.50 and his webserver is still working, blah, blah, blah, I haven't finished my talking, she has opened a ticket number for me and told me that level 2 will call me back...

I already have 2 open ticket in their database, they never call me back, this is 3rd ticket number, I don't expect they will call me back neither... :|

BTW, I have checked my configuration file and found out SR have disabled the AUTO_APP_UPDATE and AUTO_LDR_UPDATE two parameters. Apparently, they shut down the door when someone post that secret password on the broadband.com, now that passwrod is not working...

The gizmo has some selections to go with a lower codec. For instance g729 is available, the same codec used by Lingo and Packet 8. The sound quality is not as good as with g711 but it uses less bandwidth. The typcial gizmo setup with the "Welcome" password does not allow for codec change, but there is another password that gives access to some advanced settings such as changing the codecs.

My incoming/download is 1.7 Mbps, I was talking about my upload being 330 kbps. Why would increasing my incoming affect my outgoing? Or am I misreading your post.

FAX INFO - Read some post over on DSL reports or something about getting FAXs to work by forwarding the sig number to one of the online fax companies like K7.net or callwave.com. OF course, that means faxs in your e-mail but thought I'd throw it out since it appears to work well for them.

If sunrocket changed your superuser password and the password previously listed does not work simple use this page hack I made to get in.

CGI Script Source:
http://zefie.com/files/sunrocket.txt

You will need to put this on your own hosting and rename it to .cgi

Technical explaination:
AC-211 Config file sets the password in the form of a CRC16. on your Gizmo login page, the test you type is converted to CRC16 then matched against the CRC16 in the gizmo. If it matchs you get in.

What my script does:
Downloads SunRocket General CFG file to read latest password, and bypasses the CRC16 hash just you can directly send the CRC16 to the gizmo. To get SuperUser access to your gizmo, just go to the page, and if the password is filled out already, verify your Gizmo is the IP listed and login

just the facts, gt.

BTW, had many outages lately? Lighten up, guy. Not everything is aimed at you. If you can honestly maintain that the service sucks, whatever. Nobody gives a hoot.

A very interesting page hack. Can you explain how to apply it? I sent the file to my web site directory and renamed it to .cgi. How do I execute it?

Does anyone know how to check the DOCSISS version on a modem?
I'm using a TJ-110 modem w/ Cox and am having problems. I am able to connect but I get disconnected every 1-1.5 hrs on the dot. Can anyone figure out what causes this?

I called Cox and now they suddenly claim they don't support TJ-110 modems and want me to buy their $60 modem. Any idea what may cause a routine 1hr disconnect? I though it might be a DOCSISS problem.

Thanks in advance!

DOCSIS is just a spec for how your cable modem talks to the headend, and if your modem worked before then you might be having signal quality issues at your place. This doesn't have anything to do with DOCSIS compliance.
But what does this have to do with SR? Are you saying that phone calls get disconnected after an hour, or your cable connection?

If you really need to buy a modem, I'd recommend the Motorola SB5100, but if their own modem is solid then $60 is not a bad price. You can get the 5100 for $40-50 on fleabay, it's what I did after the 4mb Comcast upgrade messed up my old Toshiba PCX1000.

I posted this on a couple of other forums as well:

Sunrocket and Direct Tivo Workaround:

This worked for me when nothing else did. I'll get to the point and explain after. This is what I did:

1. Forwarded signature number to: (856) 479-001
2. Changed the dialing prefix to ",#034,(my signature number)
3. Disabled wireless on my router
4. Made successful test call
5. Made successful daily call
6. Currently my system is on the "preparing the service update.... This may take up to and hour." screen presumably updating to 6.2

OK, explanation time. I tried many, many different configurations from different dial in area codes, DSL filters forwards and backwards, multiple filters, Radio Shack AC phone adapters, multiple dial in prefixes, etc. To be fair, I did not try my exact setup yet without the ",#034", so I am not sure if it really helps or not, but have not had a chance to check because of the update. I can tell you that my setup did not work with several other area codes, did not work for some reason when I connected my sunrocket adapter directly to the modem taking my router out of the picture, and did not work with my wireless enabled with or without internet usage (my lights are always going crazy, so I suspect there is some usage that screws things up), you may have luck simply disabling all wireless devices, but I wanted to be certain. The 856 number is just a number that I read someone had success with, with Vonage.

My setup: Hughes SD-DVR-40 (upgraded HD, no hacks), Sunrocket Gizmo behind Linksys WRT-54G (upgraded firmware to Sveasoft for QOS), Linksys Modem.

I really hope this helps some people.

Ok sunrocket is starting to tick me off. I seem to get a fast busy signal with 3 out of 4 calls I try to make. Very frustrating when you're trying to make an important phone call.

i agree with dabuddha...
i've been with SR for 4 days, and today is the second time that whenever I make an outgoing call, I immediately get a busy signal. I tried with a million numbers, and SR says they're all busy, even though I get through fine on my cell phone.

Is there any way to post a "Review" in the OP so we who dont want to read all 900+ posts can figure out how good or bad the service is?

I experienced the fast busy last night too. However, I just reset the gizmo and it worked fine from then on. Just a quick power unplug replug.

I signed up for the service on Saturday. I received the Gizmo and free phone yesterday. I hooked up everything and tested as per the easy to follow instructions and everything works fine. I transferred my phone number but that, of course, takes a while and I haven't gotten notification yet that 911 service is working. Logs, caller ID and voice mail all work perfectly. So far very impressed and satisfied. I live in the Twin Cities - Minneapolis/St Paul area and I have cable from Road Runner.

Mythman, have you tried any international calling? I'm loving mine! Also, did you just get one phone, or did it come with two handsets?

Both of the folks that have been unhappy have posted 50x each...
that makes for 800 posts from the 700 satisfied ones. (Honest, they have a thirty-day money back guarantee, last time I looked.)
Besides, if Rossman is happy you will be happy, also!

LMAO. That was funny. I wonder which 2 you are referring to. Hehe.

Check your IM, I wanted to give you a couple of tweaks for SR that are not meant for the general public.

I haven't tried the International calling option yet. I received the two handsets, cordless phones. Everything is still working just fine. I put the Gizmo behind my router instead of between the router and my cabelmodem. Slight echo, sometimes, but not very often. Not enough to bother me.
