The Uniden phones let you set up to 30 different ring tones. You can change tones of your regular calls coming in away from the boring ring. You can also set different rings for frequent callers. This actually worked before Name Caller ID started working. If you look on the Uniden phones there is a button "Phonebook." If you add someone there you can select distinctive ring for each individual. Then go to Global Setup and "Copy Phonbook" to the other handsets you have around the house. Presto, "Old McDonald had a farm" throughout the house when I call home to my wife and 2 daughters.

Thanks Pa,
I had actually just started to play around with this based on prodding by 3 or 4 previous posts.
(I usually do not find the time to play with phones, however being retired, I usually get up early in the morning with nothing to do and pretty much get most of it done by the end of the day.)

They have quite a few rings, especially for a handset. A little beethoven...flicker....

I am trying to pick out a "danger" ring tone for not so-wanted callers... any suggestions? Would be great to have the death star march... dun dun dun... dun-da-dun dun-da-dun.
This must be at the Uniden phone level, because I have seen only the ring-a-ding 1, 2, 3, & 4 on the S/R site.

It must be tied to the phone-list stored on the phone, itself.
So my previous post must be wrong?
Please advise - caller ID has only started working in the last couple of weeks and after 5 ½ months, I pretty much got used to not expecting it to be available.

Edit: Just after posting this, I get a spamMail RE: getting the latest HOT ringtones!
Kind of a funny coincidence IMHO.

Learn something new everday. I thought only the uniden phones could have the ring programmed. I gotta go check out the site. But you say they only have a couple. Can you even get more ringtones for the Uniden phones in any way...or possibly more for the SR ring center? That would be kinda nice.

I definitely want Star Wars Death March, work is a great one...

No, the phones use regular phone jacks.

The phones are wireless except for the Handset #1 which plugs into the Gizmo. And the Gizmo can be plugged into any network port (RJ-45).

Congrats!!

And yeah, as RideFree said, they're wireless--in other words, one of them acts as a base station and plugs into the Gizmo, and the rest just need power. They get their signal from the base station wirelessly, and they work pretty well, I might add!

What area are you in, by the way?

Well I'm about to sign up as they have moved into my area and I can keep my number!!!! So any one out there want to share their code so I can get the free phones. I know about the parrot (see my earlier post) but I'd like someone here to get the credit. I've gotten a lot of deals here over the years and only posted a few deals myself (Joker finds all the good stuff!).

TIA

There are many many ring styles with the Uniden phones, don't know exactly how many. And since I'm not with the phones right now and cant recall the menu steps to get to them, but they are there. Just refer to the manual.

You get this through e-mail? Do they have an announcement page for new areas they move into or do you just have to keep checking/waiting for e-mail? I want to keep up to date for my parents who want it but they are kind of lazy...

when you plug in a zipcode thats unavailable, the site offers you to be notified when service becomes available in that area

Just got my kit yesterday.
Sounds pretty good so far.
However, calling international cell phone is quite problematic.
I encountered a lot of busy signals. But when I got through, the sound quality is pretty good.

Problems with my ReplayTVs.
Now they can't see each other and can't contact ReplayTV to get updates.
I have the Gizmo between Cable Modem & Linksys WRT54GS.
I have 2 computers & 2 ReplayTV hooked with cable to router.
Both computers can surf the net fine.

Anyone have solutions to the ReplayTV problems ?

Not sure how ReplayTV works, or why it would NOT work -- but worst case, you could put the gizmo behind your router, like: modem=>(wan)router(lan port)=>(wan)gizmo(lan)=>least demanding PC.

Seems like replaytv should work to me... someone will probably chime in with the proper fix -- but if that doesn't happen, you could try my suggestion.

ttown,
Thanks for the suggestion.

Fortunately it works (like you said, it is supposed to work).
I don't know why the sudden lapse, maybe my ReplayTVs was dozing off
My wife would've kill me if the ReplayTVs don't work.

I ported over one phone number on the internet. Then Sunrocket became available in another area where I have a vacation home, so I wanted to port that number over too. On the Sunrocket site it says that if you've already ported over one number and want to port over a second number at a later date, you must submit a form and a bill from your present company by either fax or mail. That is the reason for the confusion. You can relax. Your transfer request should be fine. You should have gotten an e-mail indicating that they have received your request and are working on it. If not, e-mail customer service.

911 should simply be 911
You need to contact S/R C/S on your problem. Have you had your POTS # ported over? If not, maybe that's the problem (although I really don't think so).

Does any one know how to reset gizmo to "factory default setting" ?

the reset option in the normal user mode doesn't reset it... I screwed up my gizmo setting by turning off LAN access under Security menu in the super user mode (normal user mode can't see this option), now I can't login in the super user mode anymore... Don't ask me how to login as super user mode, I don't want to confuse anyone here...

In the SR's gizmo user manual (AC-211's user manual), it mentioned that you can reset it by dialing ##3332858 (D,E,F,A,U,I,T) to set the factory defaults, but it's not working on SR's gizmo, maybe SR have customized some settings of Telco's AC-211?

Any advanced user can help me? Tks...

Try unplugging the power to the gizmo, plug it back in -- and THEN dial that number. I think it only works for a few minutes after power-up (in my unofficial observations).

Good luck!

Well, I contacted sUNrOCKET and they said that this was, indeed, a serious problem and that they would look into it "immediately" and get back to me.
As soon as I hear from them I'll post what they said.
