i've made and received several calls today with no problem. I also monitored gizmo activity for a couple hours randomly throughout the day and didn't see any indication of the problem we saw yesterday (or any problem what-so-ever).
word over at dslreports is that the problem has been fixed.

i suggest you call SR support, or do thier online chat thing

Me too! I must have made or received a dozen calls throughout the day, all flawless.

I ordered SR for my new house but my house is not ready for me to move in yet (not for another 2 months). I was wondering if I can use Gizmo in my old house for now. Does it have to work in the location where you register or anywhere there is internet?

The MAC address of my gizmo got zeroized. It has been down for the last couple of days. After 30 mins with the tech support, it's a no-go. I'm waiting for the 2nd level tech support call. I'm getting closer to cancel this service...

You should be able to us it anywhere you have a broadband connection to the internet. Plug it in and fire it up!

If you're sure that's it, it sounds like you have a bad gizmo. I'd push the tech for a new gizmo.
Short term, you might try logging in and setting up "mac spoofing" if you know what your mac should be. (if you're connected to a router, it may be in a log file; if you still have the box, it's printed on the label)

I was able to obtain the MAC address and has gone through the "MAC spoofing" process. Having tried different types of reset, the gizmo "Mgmt" LED got a three blinks each time. The voice LED never lit up. Requesting a new gizmo may be the best solution. Thx!

Received the SR kit today just plug it in on my switch (DSL modem -> WRT54G -> Linksys 10/100 switch -> Gizmoz) zero configation just plug the phone in work like a charm. I am extermely impress with the zero configration especailly I put it behind my router. I just tested it local call sounds great with a lot of download and upload. Long D to Hong Kong was not very good have a lot of break up I have to stop all the download and upload to get a acceptable Long D quilty. Have to play around with it more to see if I can get better long D result.

All I have to said is I am a very happy camper!!!

Glad to hear it works for you!

Strange about the Hong Kong call not being good quality--I called Australia the other night while playing World of Warcraft and running TeamSpeak, and the only thing I noticed was a slight delay, which is pretty typical of calls across the globe. Maybe the bad connection was on the other end?

The second call I make to Hong Kong were good I move the Gizimo to 1 of the port on the router instead connecting it to the switch. I think it make a difference. I hadn't talk on the phone a lot yet so far I am very happy about it.

I have a question how does you guys connect or use more than 2 phones with the Gizimo (if you need more than 2 head set). I talk to the tech support they only recommend use expanable phones. I want to use my Panasonic phone too.

An option for hooking up more phones is by using a phone-line splitter. It would have one male end to plug into the gizmo and 2 female ends for you to plug 2 different phones into.
Radio Shack, Target, Best Buy, Circuit City should all have them near their phone stuff.
Maybe even Dollar Store. Should cost less than $5

You should have NO problem with 2 phones, despite the tech-support guys recommendation.

I tested it with the splitter and it works fine. I was chatting witht the tech support at work and they don't recommend anything.

For those who use QOS with Linksys WRT54G how you setup voip? There is no option for VOIP in the manual (I am using the sveasoft alchemy-pre7a v3.37.6.8 firmware).

I am very interested in getting this service, but nowhere online says that Fax is working with this service. I need to send or receive fax for work every now and then. Does anyone here tested the service with fax ?

Thanks

Yep, I tested it with FAX and it seems to be working about 75% for me.
The other 25%, I simply have to resend becasue it does not connect,
so not really a big deal for me. For some though, this might be a deal breaker.
I am using it with Windows 2003 Server Fax services, btw

You'll need to enter a referral promo code on the signup page
in order to get the free Uniden phones. Which I LOVE!

Just got an email from sunrocket regarding the downtme earlier this week.

"As an expression of our regret for any inconvenience you may have experienced, we will add 10 points into your RocketRewards account."

Also explained is that they are in the midst of tripling capacity.

Yeah, I saw that too. Nice to see them letting us know about it. I think it shows that their priority is in keeping our service working--rather than waste resources putting together statements and emails and such when it went down, they threw themselves 100% into fixing the problems at hand.

Also glad to know they're expanding capacity, that's awesome!

FYI--if anyone didn't see this in their email, double check your spam filter, for some reason mine picked it up.

Bokingwen,

I used DD-WRT Firmware, however, I made myself a custom QOS script which I save it to rc_Firewall. Nontheless, Sveasoft also allow you to setup QOS based on IP/NetMask/Mac if you don't see it on the list. Or you can created your QOS script the way how want your download/upload setting.

my .2 cents, never had any problem with echos or problem with service until this Monday when they had major outage.

One thing I like ask is anyone had problem with their Gizmo getting over heated if your on the phone for long time. After the outage on Monday, my Gizmo seems to have little effect . Ow, its a awesome deal...

I signed up for the month, recieved my gizmo. Everything works! incoming calls immediatly! I love it! Is there any hope of being able to still get the free phones if I switch to the $199/year?

I signed up, got my gizmo & phones and I have to say it works great! In fact, I'm canceling my local phone service entirely, so $16.58/month wil be it. In case of outtages, just get a backup dialpad.com (or similar) prepaid card for emergency use so you can still call over the Internet.

Also, hooking it up as they show results in a slowdown of your Internet connection. Just get any broadband router, hook your modem up to it & then run separate cables from your router to the computer & to the gizmo. I have 90% QOS without doing any tweaks.

...snip
.
LOL... I think you need to rethink the phrase "in case of outtages...." (no offense)
Your ISP is one of the [weak] links in the VoIP picture -- and so if your ISP goes down, dialpad will be worthless.

Better "backup solution" is a cheap cell phone (if you don't already have one). I and others have suggested (and it appears that SR likes the idea) that they implement a "forward call fail-over" feature. If/when that exists, a down network connection should result in your calls getting forwarded to your cell. [disclaimer: at least that's the way I think it should work....]
It seems like it would fit in nicely with how their call-management stuff works, if you log in and poke around your account on the website.
