Bottom line is that it is simple to call them and have the 50 points put back on if they have gotten lost. There is also a chance that it went through properly and your Best Buy card is in the works, which is why your points have been removed from your account. Just because you got a website error does not mean that your order did not work. The system obviously removed your points for some reason, so it could just be that it all went through and you just have to wait for the Best Buy gift card to show up.

I would probably give them a call just to make sure. I am not sure what the webmaster is, there is no such person on Sunrocket's site. For CS 20 minute wait times are nothing to get bent out of shape over. Just call them from your SR phone and put the speakerphone on until someone comes on the line. You can go about your business, so you are not "really" holding and waiting. They'll be able to take care of the issue for you without any type of delay or problem. You may find that it actually shows as having been credited properly upon your order. If not they'll give you your credit back because of the web refresh issue you had.

It wouldn't be such a big deal, except I have been e-mailing them for over 3 months about it. And I don't even use the phone much anymore since I'm at work like 11 hours a day. So I think something like Skype would suit me better is all. Really, the rewards thing is nothing huge, but it is disappointing that they didn't think I was worth writing back to (and I've checked occasionally to see if they didn't go back and rectify it). Plus Skype seems to not drop my calls nearly as much, since it's made to work even on 33.6kbps modems.

I know it's probably in this thread but I don't want to have to scan through 49 pages!

What can you get for the rewards points?

Kazuo-

I guess I don't get this email thing. SR's member services phone number is open until Midnight every day (EST) Instead of email why not call them up by dialing 611 and getting it rectified by talking to someone? To get your rewards (worth real cash, after all) I would definitely contact them. As you know, CS has been redone and is now with someone else. Call them up, as this new outfit may not have your emails at all.

Skype is ok for some. Pretty decent. If you have very light use it may be a good solution. I just don't like the call quality. It is actually quite bad. I don't know what codec they use, but if it runs on 33.6k modems it can't be too hot. Anyway, I installed it and have used it occasionally. My aunt lives in Perth, Australia, and she uses Skype all the time, so when my Mom came here for a visit I installed Skype and we used it with a USB phone. No picnic. But, as a peer-to-peer solution not too bad in a pinch, since it is absolutely free if both parties have it installed. There was a noticeable echo. Is there a way to get rid of that? I am not sure if it had to do with the call going to Australia (distance) but I can't imagine because P2Ps work over the Internet, just like standard VOIP, which has given me crystal-clear, echo-free call quality even to the other side of the globe.

A neighbor decided to just go with the new 283 exchange he got from Sunrocket because his 973-xxxx number got too many junk calls from local mortgage companies and pool services.

Assuming that your international calls are primarily into the Czech Republic if you sign up for the service with the $100 int'l promotion you would get $11.33 in international minutes per month. To that country at 5cts. per minute that would be 226 minutes that are included with your service every month.

Dang I love you bye bye $200 phone bill for int'l calls (mainly) and ridiculous $25 service charge...

Hopefully the quality will be pretty decent.

If you are talking about Your RocketRewards Points, no. As George listed, there are several ways to redeem the points.
If you are talking about the free p[hones that you get with the Gizmo, I assume that you had a promotion code to enter...

It appears that the 2 free phones and $100 free international are two separate deals. So you may want to choose which will help you most since you mentioned international calling upwards of $200....wow. Anyone know if a referral will work with the $100 international deal? I don't see why it wouldn't...

czech,
If it is as laketrout has suggested i.e.an either/or deal, I sure hope that you will be phoning home all year long - like that bird sitting on the phone - cheap cheap!
Oh wait, birds don't go "cheap" "cheap", they go "free" "free"! (or at least that's what the SunRocket canary sings.)

I could be crazy, but I don't remember seeing this one before. Nice.

I wonder if you can use the Amex Cheque to pay for your SR service.

Anybody Know? (It is a mixed blessing that I have not yet pulled the plug on ComIcon0clast.)
I use Qwest VDSL 1.5mb/896kb, works great with SR. I also use their TV service with the VDSL (it is not available everywhere). $50 for both (first year only), great deal.

upss,
Where are you located - Highlands Ranch? Cause VDSL is available nowhere else in Sunny Colorado, and for sure not in Lakewood.
It would be nice if it were available...

czech09-

You have to choose between the $100 call promotion or the free phones. It is probably best in your case to choose the $100 international minutes. If you need new phones you can always look for deals on those. The Unidens are good, IMO, but there are always deal on multiphone sets, perhaps with mail-in-rebates.

There are all kinds of dual handset deals on ebay, here:

Cordless Dual Handset Phones on Ebay

BTW, if you want to give someone referral credit you can not do that by typing in a promotion code. According to SR customer service they will give referral credit for those signing up for the special $100 int'l call promotion only upon call-in to customer service. So, if you want to let someone have the $25 credit for your signup you have to PM that person your name and Sunrocket Household number. CS will then apply the credit to the caller. That way the referral credit will not just be wasted. Not a biggie, but I am sure someone who helped you out in this thread here will appreciate it. I am personally maxed out, but it looks like you conversed with RideFree a lot.

Anyway, another beautiful day in our area, phone service working well, baby smiling at me all day. What's there to complain about?

Phoenix AZ. I don?t like Qwest as a company, but this service is great. For years COX had a monopoly here but even now that this service is available and superior to COX they are struggling.

Hi George,

I tried your Fax ?fix? and it still doesn?t work. Sometime I can send a Fax but cannot receive any. It sounds to me like SR somehow filters my received faxes. When someone sends me a Fax, instead of the usual Fax tones that you normally hear, I get a continues single tone bursts, approx. 1 second on and 2 seconds off. Any other ideas or suggestions?

I think there's about half a dozen people in this thread who should realize that they've already said everything they have to say about the deal and they should just move on.

First, check to make sure that your settings are still correct. SR has been firmware upgrading lately. The three settings: 1. T.38 faxing turned to off. 2. Silence suppression ON for both 711 codecs. 3. Fixed Jitter (80) checked.

If that is all still there everything on the gizmo's end is done to insure proper faxing. On the fax end you can try some tweaks, if available. Users reported that turning fax speeds down to the lowest level available helped. For example, if you can set it to 9600 baud or 14.4k baud it provides for a stable fax connection.

What brand fax machine do you have? Most All-In-One's from HP and Brother work, from what I have seen.

I know about the firmware upgrade and I did verify that I am still using your settings.

My Fax machine is an old SHARP that operates on 9.6/14.4k baud. I don?t think it is my Fax machine problem but SR, for some reason they filter the Fax tones??? Like I said, I cannot hear the normal Fax tones when someone sends me a Fax. Obviously the Fax machine cannot respond if it cannot receive the Fax tones.

I am not sure about fax tone filtering. I have never encountered that. I have an older HP All-In-One Officejet 3150, but have yet to encounter a problem with faxing via other HPs, Brothers and Epson fax devices. Of course, I have not tried all fax machines that have been produced. I have not seen a fax-tone filtering problem as of yet.

If the problem persists, you have really two choices:

Go with a free online fax account (i.e. k7.com or stanaphone.com) and get all your faxes via email.

or

invest in another el cheapo fax. Unless there is really something up with your fax tone not coming in switching to a fax that is known to work with SR could do the trick. For instance, a unit that I know for a fact to work well with SR:

HP Laserjet 3100's on Ebay

Perhaps, but with SunRocket adding deals and upgrading the service as often as they do, I think there's plenty to talk about. For instance, the new international calling deal.

Can someone PM me the password to the gizmo?

I'd like to look at the settings without hooking up direct to a lan port.

Thanks.

The regular password to get into the Gizmo is 'welcome'. The administrator/advanced password is '*****'. I believe you have to be connected to the LAN side to get in either way.

EDIT: Edited to remove password because Sunrocket left their customers open to getting hacked. I'm soooo glad I switched. That reminds me, my number transfer was finised today so it's time to call Sunrocket and cancel. Good luck all.
