bittornado allows me to set which ports to look at, so I just set something like 21000-22000.

The green means "everything is forwarding properly", yellow means "ok, I'll work for you, but you aren't in the clear with the ports."

I have been to the gizmo configuration - that'w what allowed me to set the port forwarding info (even if redundant.)

Well, it works, and phone quality is good, so I guess I'll just live with it.

Take care and thanks for the info.

Installed yesterday. Followed the directions exactly with the gizmo between the modem and the router. Works perfectly: good sound quality, no slow down in download speed. Called Tokyo a couple of times, sounded great. Got incoming calls today as well. Free phones are nice, wife likes the styling. Gonna run the service through it's paces for the month, then say goodbye to the Phone Company!

Received my package and set it up over the weekend. Cable modem - Gizmo - Router/Gateway as suggested in the directions. It worked really well and I love the phones included in the deal. However, I had to disconnect it this morning. This is the second time I have lost Internet connectivity to my house network. I recycled everything but to no avail. I finally removed the gizmo and recycled and now my PCs are back online. I guess I will have to try putting the gizmo after the router after I get back home from work. Any ideas?

If you want to put your gizmo in between your modem and router, I may have a solution for you. Your can try setting your router to work on a static ip address (the router is normally set to acquire a dynamic ip address from your provider). Apparently the gizmo resets on a regular basis (daily?) and this may cause your network to lose connectivity. Setting a static ip address on your router seems to solve this problem.

I had a minor outage this morning. All calls from my SunRocket phone were getting an engaged tone. I am in the process of porting my POTS number to SunRocket. The POTS number was working fine. When I logged on into the SunRocket portal, I saw my POTS number listed under my accounts. I called SunRocket to see if my outage was caused due to a port of my old number being in process, but was told that the outage was caused by a system upgrade this morning. They have received my paperwork to port my POTS number, but it has not been submitted yet. I love in Northern Virginia. Just looking to see if anyone else experienced the same problem.

Annual Rate $199 ($16.58/month) and two free Uniden phones
Promo Code: SRAyuhk

Thought you guys might be interested. It is a limited offer it should be good for a few months.

ps. I e-mailed myself the code to potentially orderat work and so the mailer is at home, so when I get back I'll make sure to double check the deal and I'll let you know if anything is different. ENJOY!

That's the same deal they have been running for a while now. They update the promo code when the old one expires.

I am confused. The SunRocket promo codes are for the same deal, but this one I received is just good longer than some other codes that are expiring? Well, if thats the case then thats good anyways!

Well I'm guessing they will eventually end the Free Unidens promo. As of now, there's no way to know if the latest promo codes could be the last...

I am still getting great download speeds

bittorent files still work fine

My wife spends 125 to 185 a month on the phone (not including the cell phones)

I am saving that plus she is now using this for long distance to ca from wa.

100.00 a month is actually conservative
(some bills were over 300.00)

I am glad I got the new router, Everything works as advertised. Comcast says I get 3mb d/l 256k up

has been 3.6mb d/l 278kb up

I now never drop below 2.8mb and 260kb

I am very happy with this setup

Ahh, gotcha. I thought you meant that the offer is still going on and the promo code had no use. But I see what you mean, well... enjoy the promo for as long as it lasts.

Has anyone switched to Sunrocket from another provider that can give some good comparative feedback? Specifically, broadvoice and vonage?

I'd like to know as well. I'm going to switch my parents to VoIP at the end of this month, but SR isn't available in their area yet. (VoIP would easily save them over $50/month in phone bills.) I was thinking about Vonage, but I haven't really seen that many good things about it lately. I really wish SR would expand their network...

I'd love to do that, but my parents don't even own a computer!

They don't need one. If $price-for-cable/dsl + $17 < $whatever-they're-paying-total, then this is probably a good deal for them.

Well, this thread really makes SunRocket look good. I was wondering though, besides the obvious "Save tons'o'money," what other features about VoIP or specifically SR I guess, are really cool. Is it actually better than a regular landline with features? I am kind of becoming a tech dork so I am really curious about all the little things.

The "find me" feature is cool, if you have a cell and/or work#'s you'd like incoming calls forwarded to. If your home phone rings X times, it moves on to your next number... then the next...
Voice-mail notification is cool, if you have email or text-message device (pager/cell-phone) you can be told remotely that you have voice-mail.
Call logging is cool -- if you ever want to remember/document when a call took place.
The second phone-number is cool -- if you have a fax, or to only give out the number to specific people. It might be SUPER cool if you have the second number "located" (via area-code) near someone(s) long-distance, who could then call YOU for free.

What do you get when you run the command "ipconfig -all" from a DOS prompt?
Oh, wait, Windows refers to the DOS prompt as Command Prompt.

That might be because it's not DOS, it is a command prompt [/quote]Spoken as someone who has probably not used DOS...

The on-line account management is great. You can check for voicemails and listen to them online. You can also set / reset features like call forwarding etc. There is also a feature to send the calls directly to voicemail if you do not want to be disturbed.

I spoke with a SunRocket CSR who told me that they were working on enabling the second port on the gizmo. She was not sure of what features that would enable but said that it would probably work as a second line. This would mean that each account would have two physical lines (currently the second line is more of a virtual line).

I got two lines immediately about two years ago when I tried Vonage. The second line was cheap - around $14 (not positive about the $14).

Maybe when SR comes in with the second line, it'll be around $10-$12. If so, count me in.
Ahh! Wishfull thinking.

Actually, I hope it will be "free" - i.e. the 2nd line will just begin to work out of line 2 of the gizmo eventually.

I'd also hope it was free. The "2 numbers feature" is already there and built into the cost of goods.
The second port, imo, would be a firmware mod to direct the ringing of the second phone to that port instead of the the first port.
I have no idea what's involved at a hardware level, so I may be overly optimistic.

Of course, they may call it an "added service" since some people would like it to continue to work the way it does now -- with 1 physical phone that has 2 distinctive rings, depending on the number being called.

yeah, lingo has the similar service, $4.95/mo for additional U.S. phone number, cheapter than vonage.

Vonage has a "softphone" feature, it sounds cool too.

It might be hard for SR to get their investors to go along with free, however, I would be very OK with FREE!]

With this service, can I still use my laptops 56k modem to dial into work? I scanned through this whole thread and was unable to find an answer to this question.

Thanks in advance.

"Find Me" - I was wondering about this. Does this then count against your minutes on your cell phone? You know what I mean, is it bascially your house calling your cell, so it is now local or would it be long distance if the caller was long distance?

"Second Phone number" - You can do that? NOW THATS awesome. Anybody actually have that set up?
